Futurama

Fan Fiction

The Early Years
By Futurama Nerd

Hello! Futrama Nerd here, telling you about my fan-fic. This is one of my firsts, so be kind. I wrote this mainly for my cousin, but turned into this crap so hope you enjoy it.

Now for the boring stuff: Futurama belong to the FOX Company (sadly), Matt Groening, David Cohen and The Curiosity Company. I am making no money off of this, so stealing would not only be wrong, but worthless. I used these characters only for fan-fic use.

The Early Years

By Futurama Nerd

"Yes! First day of High School!" Philip turned on his radio and started dancing to 'Walkn' on Sunshine'.

"Oh yeah, don't get to cocky," his brother Yancy said, passing by his door, which was open. Yancy was 3 years older than Philip and was a senior. Philip's face fell. He turned off his radio and went to take a shower. 20 minutes later, he came down stairs dressed, as usual, in jeans and a T-shirt.

"Hello mom," he said sitting down in the table. He grabbed a piece of toast on a platter in the middle of the table.

"Ready for school Phillip?" his dad said patting him hard on the shoulder.

"Ya, I guess so."

"What did you say?" his dad asked.

"I said I guess so, sir."

Yancy comes through the doorway and sits next to Philip. He grabbed a piece of toast and crammed it into his mouth.

"Hi mawm, hi dawd."

"Now you're gonna show Philip around right, Yancy?" Mrs.Fry said looking at him. "He might get lost. You know, since all his friends went to another school he might get beat up or something."

"Ya, ya, mom."

There was a honk from outside, the bus had arrived to pick them up.

"We gotta go!" Yancy got up from the table and rushed out of the front door. Philip stood up slowly, dreading the bus ride.

"Good bye, mom. Good bye, dad."

"Be careful OK Philip?" his mom yelled at the door.

"I will." He waved back at her for one last time and headed towards the bus.

He got on and looked for a place to sit. Looking round, he walked to a seat in the back that was empty except for a boy sitting by himself.

The boy had black hair and black eyes. He looked sorta dazed, swaying back and forth.

"Can I sit here?" Philip asked him.

He didn't answer, so he asked again.

"Can I sit here?"

The boy snapped out of his trance and looked at Philip. "Ya sure whatever."

He moved aside staring at the window. It was quite between the both of them for a while, until the boy did something Philip never forgot, he pulled out a bottle. Not just any bottle, a beer bottle.

Philip looked at him in shock.

"Dude, you're like under aged!"

The boy looked at Philip. "So?"

"So, you'll get in trouble or you'll die!"

"Look, kid, mind your own business." He took another swing from the bottle and looked at Philip. "I'm glad you care about me and stuff, but I don't care what happens to me. No one really does..." He looked at the ground and shuffled his feet.

Philip looked at the boy. "What's your name kid?" he asked.

"Brian Bender."

"Hi Brian Bender, my name is Philip Fry, but you can call me Phil or whatever."

"Cool, call me Bender," Bender said. "I'll call you Fry."

"Last name as our first name, I like it," Phillip said. "So why do you drink?"

"Me? It makes me look cool." He took another sip. Seeing Philip, he stopped and put the bottle away. "No really? I drink my sorrows away, that's all."

"That's not good, Bender," Philip said. "You could get sick or something."

"Ya well, thanks for caring about me. Out of all my friends, you're the first."

"Thanks, Bender, me too. I think."

The bus stopped in front of the school with a shriek. The kids slowly piled out of the bus and onto the school grounds. Philip and Bender looked around at the vastness of it all. It was huge, well, bigger than Philip's old middle school. But this was high school, everything is bigger, harder and scarier. Well,at least to Philip. He got out his class schedule and scanned the list.

"What's your first class, Bender?" Philip asked him.

"Science,D-2,History in A-1 and PE."

"Algebra,A-4.,English in E-7,PE in the gym then lunch."

They looked at each other.

"How about his," Bender said, "we'll meet at PE. Ok?"

"Sure. If I can find out where the gym is."

Bender pulled out something out of his pocket, it was a miniature map of the school.

"Follow this, I got it off the net." He handed the map to Philip and together they started walking towards the doors of the main school hall. The bell rang and the groups of kids started to separate to go to each others' classes.

Bender and Philip said goodbye and parted ways. Philip looked at the map Bender gave him and started walking towards D hall. As he walked,he pasted by other kids that he did not know. To him they all seem so scary, the seniors.

He finally found D hall and just in time as soon as he got into class, the bell rang stating the beginning of class. Almost all the seats were taken, all except one in the back. Philip headed towards his new seat and sat. The teacher entered the classroom and started writing something on the board, when she was done Philip saw that she wrote her name.

"Hello class," the teacher said, she was tall thin and had blond hair. "My name is Mrs Stanley, and this is Algebra 1. Welcome." She got a hand full of papers from her desk and started passing them out.

Philip waited to get his paper, after all he did sit at the back, and looked around. As he did he noticed the girl sitting on his right side. The girl had purple hair, it seemed to be dyed, and black eyes. But this was only half true, one of the girls eye's, her right was covered with an eye patch.

Noticing this, the girl looked at him. Philip looked away as Mrs Stanley gave him his paper, after that he didn't mind the girl for the rest of the period. The rest of his classes periods 2, 3 and 4 went well, much to Philip's surprise. His PE teacher was Mr Johnson, "a hip young man" he would call himself, and was extremely easy on them. After PE Philip and Bender started heading towards the cafeteria. They wanted to find a place to sit and chat with each other before the rest of the classes started.

"How was Science?" Philip asked him.

"Good. My teacher is nuts though. Calls himself Professor Farnsworth."

"Why does that sound so familiar."

They reached the door and opened it.

"Dude, I haven't seen a room this full since, well, I dun no."

Phillip had to agree. They both had bagged lunch, which was good because the line was huge, and started walking to the tables until they realized they had no place to sit. Each and every table was filled to the max.

"Great, just great!" Bender yelled.

"Wait a sec, there's one table left," Philip said .

"Which one?"

"That one, in the back." He pointed and saw that the table was not completely unoccupied. The girl from Phillip's math class was sitting there all by herself looking down on what appeared to be a half eaten sandwiches.

"But someone's already there," Bender said.

''Don't matter," Philip said, "it's the only place here."

Bender shrugged and headed towards the table, Philip followed him. He was not afraid of the girl, in fact he was anything but. He was interested,in fact, about the condition of her eye.

As soon as they got there the girl took notice and looked up. She took her time at looking at both of them before she spoke.

"What do you want?"

"We wanna sit," Bender asked rudely.

"Why? There are plenty of other seats here, why not sit there? You can also sit outside."

"Ok, ok gees! And by the way, there are no seats left inside!" Bender said turning his back. "Come on, Fry, we'll leave."

"So sorry to bother you," Philip said. He looked at the girl for one last time and followed Bender. They were heading out the door when the girl stood up from the table.

"Wait! You can sit here." She sat down.

Bender and Philip looked at each other and decided to sit. As they headed to the table the girl watched them closely.

"Sorry," she said, "I thought you just wanted to make fun of me, you know, the eye thing." She pointed to her eye patch.

"Well, I wasn't really thinking about that. I actually think it's kinda cool," Philip said.

The girl glared at him.

"I mean, um, that was really stupid. Let me start over. Hi, my name is Philip Fry." He held out a hand.

"Hi my name is Lauren Leela, you can call me Leela and, yeah, that was stupid." She shook his hand and smiled. "Who is this guy." She pointed to Bender and took another bite of her sand which.

Philip hit bender on the shoulder and he took notice."Oh me? Yeah my name is Brian, Brian Bender. What happened to your eye."

"Bender!" Philip whispered "That's not very-"

"No,that's OK. Bender he calls you? Alright last names then? Bender, if ya have to know, I was in a karate accident."

"Karate?" Philip asked.

"Yes, you heard me right. You see, I'm adopted and when I was in the orphanage, I had to find a way to defend myself. Then one day as I was practicing the warden came up behind me and as I turned around I got startled, kicked him and he poked me in the eye with the rolling pin he was using to cook dinner with. Being in the orphanage and all, they didn't bring to the hospital in time, causing me to lose all sight in my right eye."

"Wow. So are you OK?" Philip asked

"Yeah, I'm alright. Ya know, I like you Fry. You didn't bombarded me with questions about my eye."

"Hey, it's not like this sorta stuff never happens," Bender said, taking out a beer bottle from his bag.

"You drink?" Leela asked, looking disgusted. "That stuff kills."

"Yup."

"And even if it doesn't kill you right away, in time it will get to your lungs and then give you cancer."

"Yup"

"And then it kills you."

"Yup, would this also be a bad time to tell you that I smoke?"

"You smoke!"

"You smoke?" Philip asked turning to look a him.

"Gees, tell it to the world why don't you?"

"Just give up Leela, he's a lost cause. But he's really nice when you get to know him."

"Ok,he doesn't look that bad."

"Damn right!"

Philip smiled. He looked around the table and thought about what happened so far. Only half of the school day and he already had friends.

"I'm really lucky."

"What?" Bender asked

"Nothing."

The bell rang and the three of them got up.

"So, Fry, Bender, what class do you have next?"

"French," Philip said, looking down at his schedule.

"Me too," Bender answered.

"Second," Leela chimed in.

"Cool we can walk together."

Philip pushed open the door of the cafeteria and together they walked down the hall.

"You know," Bender said. "I bet you that in 1,000 years or so, French will be a dead language."

"I'm sure it will be, Bender," Leela said, laughing.

"Hey," Philip said, "it could happen."
