After The Horizon
Just a little what if scenario with a deleted Fry asking out Leela scene.
Narrator: [voice-over; on TV] You're on a scenic route through a state recreation known as the human mind. You ask a passer-by for directions, only to find he is invisible or something. Suddenly, up ahead, a door in the road. You swerve, narrowly avoiding The Scary Door.
The Scary Door graphic appears on the TV and shatters episode.
TV: 'Boo! Scared? Huh? No? That's it. For this episode!
Scene: Planet Express Balcony. Fry is sitting down playing the holophonor. In his image, two stick figures dance. He stops playing and writes some notes on a music sheet. Unknown to Fry, Leela is standing right behind him.
Leela: 'Is it part of the opera?
Fry turns around and quickly puts the holophonor down.
He stands up.
Fry: 'You shouldn't be listening. I don't want you to hear it till it's done.
Leela: 'But it's so beautiful.
Fry: 'So's a peacock but you don't eat it until it's cooked. This has to be perfect. I want you to hear exactly what I hear when I think about you.
Leela: 'Oh, Fry. All this time you've had this incredible gift and I never knew. I've been a fool. A fully-justified, prudent fool.
Fry: [putting his hands behind his back] 'Leela. I feel I should give you a fair warning. After the premiere I'm planning on asking you out...you know on a real date.
Leela: 'What do you mean an real date?
Fry: 'Well you know, an movie where your supposed to care if the people die and after a kiss good night.
Leela: (softy) 'That sounds nice.
She looks into his eyes and holds his hands then quickly takes hers hands away.
Leela: 'Ah! They're so cold.
Robot Devil: (shouting from street) 'And yet hell is so hot!
He laughs briefly.
Robot Devil: 'Can I have my hands back now?
Fry: (shouting) 'No!
Robot Devil: (shouting from street) 'You're not nice!
Scene: Metropolitan House of Opera. Fry sits alone on the stage in the empty auditorium. He puts his holophonor on the floor and gets up to leave.
Leela: 'Please don't stop playing, Fry. I wanna hear how it ends.
Fry turns around. Leela is the only person left in the room. He smiles then sits down, picks up the holophonor and plays. The smoke whirls around above him and forms a crude image of him and Leela who turn to each other and hold hands. They kiss, turn around and walk away towards the horizon. Then the picture flickers, distorts and then turns to nothingness. Fry looks over at Leela
[Fry stares at Leela who's remains siting in the row of seats not moving.]
Fry gets down off the stage and walks slowly towards Leela up the in middle of the aisles of seats, when he reaches her, he sits himself down down next to her, he notices that her eye is bloodshot and mist from tears.
Fry: (nervous)' What do say if we you...know go for da--[Leela hugs] Uh, Leela?
Leela: 'I'd say yes! [She kisses him on the lips.] Yes. Oh Fry! I want you! I don't wanna hide my feeling for you anymore.
Fry: 'Well...Maybe I don't either...I love you.
Leela's eye fills with more tears she holds him tighter.
Leela: (crying) 'Sorry...Although I think it is safe to say, that I always loved you Fry, in some way or another.
Fry: 'Leela...I I I---
She stops crying and leans her head on his shoulder, Fry nervously smiles for along time before saying anything at all.
Fry: 'So um, want to go on a real date?
Leela: 'I'd love to. I don't know what rushing into a full on loving relationship with you will bring me. But I'm sure as Hell it will bring me....happiness...I love you.
Fry: (quietly) 'I love you too.
Leela: (quietly) 'Here's your [moves her head closer to Fry's.] kiss good night.
She wraps her arms round him and he does the same, their lips meet and kiss one another passionately.
Narrator: 'Whatever happened after the Horizon with Sappyness in mind, it could of went something like this sappy happiness ever after on the side with some kids.
