Married ... with Bender
By Frosty

[Fry and Leela were sitting on the couch weeks after their honeymoon. They bought a new house with the white picket fence, and two floors with 4 bedrooms. They decorated the living room with a light house style, since they went to a small coastal town and stayed at a bed and breakfast. The carpet was blue, the walls were white with red, beige, and blue stripes. Their white couch with a light brown coffee table, and brass candle holders on the walls made the room complete. On their honeymoon, they went to beach everyday and Fry took pictures of the ocean, lighthouse, and sunsets. Now, they all hung on the walls in their house along with their wedding picture over their fireplace just like Leela wanted. Fry walked out of the bathroom dressed in jeans and a white collard shirt. He had taken a run earlier and Leela was going through a baby magazine, coming up with ideas for the baby’s room. Sitting down next to her, Fry kissed her cheek and put his arm around her.]

Fry: Hey, what up?

Leela: Just trying to think about what we should do for the baby’s room. I mean, I don’t want to find out if it’s a boy or girl, so we have to find some gender neutral colors.

Fry: So, did you get any ideas?

Leela: I was thinking yellow and white. What do you think?

Fry: Yeah, sure.

Leela: Well, don’t you care?

Fry: Three words: “I’m a guy”.

Leela: (pause) Good point.

[She kept looking through the magazine and Fry moved closer to her. Brushing her hair back, he kissed her neck.]

Leela: Fry, I-ooh,

[He took the magazine out of her hand and put it down on the table. Fry kept kissing her and they fell back on the couch.]

Leela: Fry, Fry, I need to get this stuff done. I- ooh, Fry!

[He kissed her and Leela moved her hands to his belt.]

Bender: (OS) Hey meat bags!

[Fry fell of the couch and Leela sat up.]

Leela: Bender? What are you doing here?

Bender: I got kicked out of my apartment, and I need a place to stay. I’ll be upstairs.

Leela: Bender, you cant just barge in here-

[Bender walked upstairs ignoring Leela’s protest and Fry sat up.]

Leela: I can't believe he just walked in here and expects us to just let him live here.

Fry: Yeah,

[He rubbed his head and looked at Leela.]

Fry: So…. You wanna continue what we started?

Leela: No! Not with Bender in the house now.

Fry: Aw,

[Fry stood and Leela picked up the magazine again.]

Fry: I’m gonna go work on my lesson plan then.

Leela: Alright.

[Fry walked upstairs and saw Bender laying on his and Leela’s bed.]

Fry: Uh, Bender?

Bender: What?

Fry: This, uh, this is sort of our room.

Bender: We’re going to be roomies again?!

Fry: No, I meant mine and Leela’s room. After all, we’re married.

Bender: But you know, I’m already settled in here.

Fry: Bender! Come on, just stay in the guest room.

[Fry picked up Bender’s bag and led him into the guest room.]

Fry: Here you go. I’m gonna go work on my lesson plan for school. If you need anything, just come in to my office.

[Fry left the room and sat at his desk. Turning on his lap top, he looked at the picture of him, Leela, Munda, and Morris that was on his desk. Smiling, he leaned back and looked at his ring.]

Fry: (thinking) Wow, I’m married to the girl of my dreams, I have a great job, a great house, and I’m gonna be a dad soon! I’ve never been so happy.

[He twiddled his thumbs and finally typed in his password.]

[Leela had moved from the living room into the baby’s room. She crossed her arms and looked at the wall, trying to picture how it would look. Smiling, she closed her eye, and put a hand on her stomach.]

Leela: (thinking) I cant believe that Fry and I are married and we’re going to have a baby.

[She sighed happily.]

Voice: (OS) Leela?

[She turned around and saw Fry standing there with the phone.]

Fry: It’s your mom.

[She took the phone and kissed his cheek before leaving the room.]

Leela: Hi Mom. What’s up?

[Fry was going to just go back to his office, but he stopped and looked in the baby’s room. Stepping inside, he looked around and could see him standing there with Leela and their baby in her arms. He sat down on the floor and leaned his head against the wall. After a while, Leela walked by and saw Fry sitting on the floor. She walked in and Fry looked up.]

Fry: Hey,

Leela: Hi.

[She sat down next to him and held his arm.]

Leela: What are you thinking about?

Fry: Well, everything. You, me, the baby. I mean, I walked in here, and everything seemed so real. It just really hit me.

Leela: (pause) Are you scared?

Fry: A little. What about you?

Leela: Yeah, a little.

[He sighed and Leela squeezed his arm. Bender was walking down their hall way and saw the two sitting on the floor.]

Bender: Hey, what are you two skin tubes doing?

Fry: Nothing, just sitting and thinking.

[Bender walked in and sat down next to Fry.]

Bender: So, what’s this room gonna be?

Leela: Our baby’s room.

Bender: Aw, the little meat bag.

[Leela was in the kitchen cooking dinner for her and Fry, when he and Bender came rushing down the stairs. Fry fell at the foot of the staircase but cheered.]

Fry: Yeah! I win!

[They stood up and Bender handed Fry $10. Leela looked at them and crossed her arms.]

Leela: What are you two doing?

Bender: I bet him $10 that I could get down the stairs before he could.

Fry: But you lost!

Leela: Well, sit down it’s time for dinner.

[She placed two plates with stakes on the table and a bowl of motor oil for Bender.]

Fry: Ooh, my favorite!

[Fry sat down next to Bender and across from Leela.]

[A few weeks later, Fry and Bender were sitting on the couch watching TV while Leela was washing the dishes. She sighed and looked at the two of them. For the past 5 weeks, they just goofed around all the time. Just like they used to and Leela was getting sick of it. She missed spending time with Fry and just sitting on the couch, not saying anything for hours. He would just hold her hand and smile. But with Bender around, they couldn’t do that anymore.]

Leela: Fry, can you help me with these dishes?

Fry: Sure,

[He got up and went into the kitchen and noticed that all the dishes were clean and put away.]

Fry: Hey, I thought you said you needed help.

[She pulled him by his arm.]

Leela: (whisper) Listen, I want you to talk to Bender about finding a new place to live. It’s been 5 weeks, he needs to get out of here.

Fry: What? Why? He’s not bothering me.

Leela; But he’s bothering me! We’re going to have a baby soon, he cant be hanging around here. Plus, you and I haven’t been able to spend any time together.

[He thought about it and looked up at Leela.]

Fry: Aright, I’ll talk to him.

Leela: Thank you.

[She kissed his cheek and Fry gently put a hand on her stomach before going back into the living room.]

Fry: So, Bender, have you found a new place to live yet?

Bender: No, I haven’t got to go looking, I’ve been busy.

Fry: Well, I don’t have class tomorrow, you wanna go look for a new place?

[Bender picked up a TV Guide and sighed.]

Bender: Sorry there’s a All My Circuits marathon on at 5:00.

Fry: Well, we can go before.

[Bender put a hand up to his head and gave an agitated sigh.]

Bender: Fry, you don’t understand. I need that time to prepare for the marathon.

Fry: Well-uh-the thing is-we-uh

[Fry felt something hit him in the back of the head and turned around. There was an empty Slurm can on the ground and Leela was standing behind him, glaring.]

Leela: (mouthing) Get him out of here!

[Fry shook his head and picked up the remote, turning off the TV.]

Bender: Hey I was watching that!

Fry: Bender listen, this isn’t working.

Bender: What are you talking about? The TV’s fine.

Fry: No, I mean, you living here. It’s not working.

Bender: What are you saying?

Fry: I think it’s time you moved out and found your own place.

Bender: But, I thought we were friends.

Fry: We are friends, its just that….

[Fry paused and looked at Leela. She nodded and went upstairs, leaving them alone.]

Fry: Bender, I’m married now, I can't go back to the way I used to be. It’s been 10 years and it’s time to grow up.

Bender: But we were having so much fun.

Fry: I know, but, (sigh) you know Leela’s pregnant. We’re going to be having a baby soon, so there’s a lot of things we need to take care of.

[Bender stood and Fry sighed again.]

Bender: Well, then lets go tomorrow.

[Fry smiled and gave his friend a hug.]

Fry: Thanks buddy.

[Fry went upstairs and found Leela in the baby’s room.]

Leela: How’d it go?

Fry: Good, I’m gonna help him find a place tomorrow.

[Leela put her arms around him and squeezed him.]

Leela: I love you Fry.

Fry: I love you too.

[She kissed him and turned around, looking at the room again.]

Fry: So, have you thought of names yet?

Leela: Yeah, have you?

Fry: Actually, yeah. I have.

Leela: Really? What did you think of?

Fry: I was thinking Taylor if it’s a boy and Jessica if it’s a girl. What about you?

Leela: I was thinking Brandon for a boy and Allison for a girl.

Fry: Yeah, I like those too.

[She smiled and looked out the window. Fry noticed she had been a little quite lately. Even though they weren’t spending much time together since Bender moved in, when they were able to spend some time with each other, she never really said much.]

Fry: (gentle) Leela, are you okay?

Leela: Yeah, I’m fine.

[When she didn’t say anything else, Fry leaned against the wall and looked at her.]

Fry: No, you’re not fine. Something’s wrong, I can tell.

[She kept staring out the window and Fry finally put his arms around her from behind, his hands on her stomach.]

Fry: Come on, talk to me.

Leela: I’ve just been thinking, what if our baby has one eye like me?

Fry: What about it?

Leela: I mean, I was always picked on when I was little, and I don’t want the same thing to happen to our baby.

[Fry held her tight and rested his chin on her shoulder.]

Fry: You have nothing to worry about. Our baby is going to be as beautiful as you.

[She smiled and they stood there staring out the window.]

[Fry woke up the next morning and saw that Leela already left for work. He made the bed, took a shower, changed into a blue tee-shirt, and went down stairs. Bender had his morning beer in his hand while he sat at the table.]

Fry: Morning Bender.

Bender: Hey Fry. Ready to go?

Fry: Let me just have some breakfast.

[He poured himself a cup of coffee and went into the cupboards looking for the box of doughnuts. Once he opened the box, he saw a note on the fridge. Working late tonight, so have what ever you want for dinner. I’ll see you when I get home. Love you, Leela. Fry smiled and sat down with Bender.]

Fry: Listen, I thought we could go to get paint for the baby’s room, and Leela’s working late tonight. So can you help me paint the room today? As a surprise for her?

Bender: For a small fee.

Fry: I’ll pick up a pizza and beer.

Bender: Deal.

[After driving around for two and a half hours, they were able to finally find a apartment building for robots. Bender walked upstairs and Fry was waiting in the car. Bender said he didn’t want people to think they were robo-sexuals. His phone rang and he reached into his pocket. He flipped it open and put it up to his ear.]

Fry: Hello?

Leela: Hey there.

Fry: Hi babe, what’s up?

Leela: I just called to see what you were doing.

Fry: I’m waiting outside for Bender. We finally found a apartment building for Robots, so he’s up there right now. What are you doing?

Leela: Oh, just going over some of my work before I submit it in. Then I have loads of paper work to do.

Fry: Well, take it easy. I don’t want anything to happen to my pregnant princess.

[She giggled and Fry smiled.]

Fry: By the way, I’m planning a surprise for you when you get home.

Leela: Really? I cant wait. But I bet I’m gonna be exhausted by the time I get home.

Fry: Don’t worry, it’s just a little something. So, what time are you gonna get home?

Leela: Around 8:00 I guess.

Fry: Alright, I’ll see you then.

Leela: Okay. I gotta get back to work, I’ll see you at home. Love you, bye.

Fry: Love you too.

[He hung up the phone and saw Bender coming out of the building. He got in the car and looked at Fry.]

Bender: I move in at the end of the week.

Fry: That’s great.

Bender: So, we have to go get the paint now?

Fry: Yep, then we’re gonna paint the room before Leela gets home.

[They drove to the Home Depot and walked inside.]

Fry: Okay, so Leela wants yellow and white.

Bender: How about this color instead?

[He pointed at the “Fog Hat Grey” color.]

Fry: Bender, it has to be these ones.

[He held up a can of white and a can of custard yellow.]

Fry: Let’s go pay for these and start painting.

Bender: Okay, but I think that gold and fog hat grey would be a good choice.

[Fry shook his head as they paid for the cans and drove home.]

[Fry had changed into a ratty old pair of jeans and a stained shirt that had holes in it.]

Fry: Okay, so we have to paint the walls with the base, let it dry, then yellow, let it dry, then another coat of yellow, let it dry, and paint white stripes.

Bender: Alright, but don’t forget; beer.

Fry: Yeah, I know.

[Around 4:30, Fry and Bender were on the couch with beer and pizza.]

Bender: I’m tired.

Fry: Me too. But we still have to do the stripes.

Bender: Aw man! But the All my circuits marathon is starting soon!

Fry: Well, I guess I can do it by my self.

[Fry looked up and Bender had his feet on the coffee table with the TV on. Fry went upstairs and opened the can and poured it in the tray. Picking up a thin brush, he put paint on it and started.]

[At 7:50, Fry was sitting on the couch waiting for Leela. Bender had gone up to his room to finish watching the marathon he started. Stretching out, Fry looked at the paint on his arms and shirt and yawned. He heard the door open, and jumped up from his seat greeting Leela at the door by picking her up and swinging her around.]

Fry: Hey honey.

Leela: (tired) Hi,

[She yawned as Fry helped her take off her jacket and hung it up.]

Fry: Rough day?

Leela: Yeah, I’m exhausted. I just want to go to bed.

Fry: But before you do, there’s a surprise waiting for you upstairs.

[He led her upstairs and they stood outside of the baby’s room.]

Fry: Now, close your eye.

Leela: Fry, I’m really tired I just want to-

Fry: Okay, okay.

[He opened the door and turned on the light.]

Fry: Surprise!

Leela: Fry,

[She walked in and looked at the custard colored walls with the white stripes. Turning back to Fry, she saw him leaning against the door frame smiling.]

Leela: You did this for me?

Fry: Yeah, I thought I surprise you.

[Leela threw her arms around her husband and kissed him.]

Leela: Thank you. This is exactly how I pictured it.

Fry: I’m glad you like it.

[Looking around one last time, Leela kissed him again and went into the bedroom. Fry smiled, thinking about the day they would bring the baby home and turned off the light. Walking into the bedroom, he changed his shirt and put on some pajama pants after washing the paint off of his arms. Laying out his kakis with a shirt and tie for the next day, he fell on his stomach and closed his eyes. He felt Leela’s body next to him and smiled. Opening his eyes he saw her laying on her side smiling at her. Fry got up and pulled the covers over them.]

Fry: Good night.

Leela: Good night.

[It was the night before Bender could move in to his apartment and the three of them were sitting on the couch. Fry had his arm around Leela and she had her hand on her stomach. Bender and Fry had a beers in their hands and the TV was on.]

Bender: Well meat bags, tomorrow I’m moving out. But I’ll be back to visit. And if I didn’t say it before, thanks for letting me stay here.

[Leela smiled at him and Fry did the same.]

Leela: You’re welcome Bender.

[Fry and Bender clinked their beers and took a drink.]

Bender: So you two getting excited about the kid?

Fry: Oh yeah. Right?

Leela: Yeah, I’ve always wanted to be a mother. Oh! Fry, I have my first ultrasound tomorrow.

Fry: Really? So we finally get to see the baby?

Leela: Yeah, I’m so excited.

Bender: Well, let me know what’s going on with it.

[Fry was holding Leela’s hand as they watched the ultrasound technician, who was a man about thirty with black hair, moved the wand over Leela’s stomach.]

Technician: Okay, here’s the head, the arms, oh, you see that? That’s your one baby’s heart beat.

[Leela smiled and looked at Fry.]

Leela: Do you see that?

[He didn’t say anything, he was just staring at the technician.]

Leela: What is it?

Fry: Did you say our one baby ?

Technician: Yes, you’re having twins.

Leela: Twins?!

Fry: You mean, as in two of them?

Technician: Yes.

Fry: We’re having two babies?

Technician: Yes sir.

[Fry stared blankly for a second.]

Fry: Two?

Leela: Fry!

[She watched as Fry’s eyes rolled back in his head and he fell to the ground.]

Leela: Again?

Technician: That’s happen before?

Leela: Yes. Just get him off the floor and slap his face a few times.

[He helped Fry back into the chair and smacked his face a few times. Fry’s eyes shot open and he looked around.]

Fry: Twins?!

Leela: Yes Fry. We’re gonna have twins!

Fry: Wow. (pause) This means I have to paint the other room now.

[Leela laughed and took his hand.]

Leela: Are you okay?

Fry: Yeah,

[He looked at the screen and saw the two babies on the screen. Smiling, he looked back at Leela.]

Leela: Those are our babies Fry.

Fry: (soft) Yeah,

[The technician finished up and left Fry and Leela in the room.]

Leela: You sure you’re okay?

Fry: I’m fine. Just, surprised.

Leela: Me too.

[Fry smiled and kissed her.]

Fry: I love you.

Leela: I love you too.

Fry: Come on, lets go home and call your parents.

Munda: That’s wonderful honey!

[Leela was on the phone with her mom. The second they walked in the door she picked up the phone and sat down on the couch with Fry.]

Leela: I know I was so happy!

Munda: What does Fry think about this?

Leela: He was really surprised, but you know so was I.

Munda: Well congratulations you two.

Leela: Thanks Mom.

Munda: But listen, your father and I want the two of you to come down for dinner sometime.

Leela: Alright, I call you and let you know when we can.

Munda: Great. I’ll let you two go now, I’ll talk to you later.

Leela: By Mom.

Munda: Bye sweetie.

[Leela hung up the phone and looked at Fry. Smiling she put her arms around him, squeezing him.]

Leela: Can you believe this? We’re having twins.

Fry: I know.

[Leela kissed his cheek and Fry sighed.]

[A few days later, Fry and Bender were at the gym playing basket ball. Fry had on a white sleeveless shirt and black gym shorts while Bender wore a blue sweatband around his head and a globetrotter jersey. It was Bender‘s ball, and Fry stood between him and the basket at the point. Fry checked the ball and Bender stared dribbling.]

Bender: You’re going down buddy. I may be down by 6 points, but you’ll see. I’ll come back from behind.

Fry: We’ll see.

[Bender tried to blow past him, but Fry stayed with him. Trying to loose him, Bender pivoted a few times as Fry swatted at the ball.]

Fry: Hey, I forgot to tell you; Leela’s pregnant with twins.

Bender: Twins?!

[He was so distracted so Fry stole the ball, dribbled back to the point, and went in for a lay-up.]

Fry: Now you’re down by 7. 13-20, one more point and I win.

[He passed it to him and Bender just stared.]

Bender: Did you just say that, or are you really having twins?

Fry: It’s true.

Bender: Wow, that’s great buddy.

[Once more, Fry checked the ball, and Bender shot. It hit the rim, and Fry jumped to catch it, taking it back to the point. Thinking carefully, Fry had his back to Bender as he guarded the ball. He faked left, and blew past him, going in for another basket. But Bender used his extending arms and caught it before it went into the basket.]

Fry: Hey! Not fair!

[Bender didn’t listen and, since he was still standing at the point, put the ball in the basket for a two point shot (since they were playing street rules).]

Bender: 15-20. Your ball.

[Fry shook his head and checked the ball to Bender and soon held it in his hands again. Shooting it, it was a nothing but net shot and Fry pumped his fist in the air.]

Fry: Yes! I win! Loser, loser, loser!

[Bender rolled his eyes as Fry did a victory dance.]

Bender: Okay, okay, you win.

Fry: You’re damn right I did!

[Bender threw the ball at him, and Fry laughed.]

[Fry and Bender were sitting on the couch at Fry and Leela’s drinking some beer. Fry had showered and changed into jeans and a tee-shirt. Leela was working late again, and Fry decided to just order some pizza.]

Bender: Were you surprised when the doctor told you?

Fry: Well, I-uh- sort of passed out. Does that answer your question?

[Bender laughed and finished off his beer.]

Bender: Well, today was fun Fry. Lets do it again. But I gotta get going.

Fry: Alright, I’ll see you Bender.

[He left and Fry laid down on the couch, fall asleep in minutes. When Leela came home, he was still sleeping and she gently woke him, taking him upstairs to get some rest.]
