Dear Fry, part 7
[Its been 8 months since the night on the ship and the wedding. Josh was sent to jail after mental counseling and Leela and Fry spent sometime in therapy getting over everything that happened to them with in the last few years. They moved out of the Robot Arms after they got back from their honeymoon, and bought a small house right on the beach, where the two of them were married. Leela was now 9 months pregnant and was due at anytime now. She still made sure that Fry didn’t do anything that she couldn’t. He was exercising his knee on the bike, while Leela was looking at the baby’s room. She smiled, satisfied, and went to find Fry. She looked at him on the bike, putting her hands on her hips, she stood next to him.]
Leela: What are you doing?
Fry: Uh, exercising my knee?
Leela: You cant do that! It puts too much pressure on my cervix!
Fry: I don’t have a damn cervix. How am I suppose to exercise?
Leela: Well we could take a walk, or-
Fry: Okay, you know what? That’s it!
[he got off the bike and went into the kitchen. He came back out with a can of beer in his hand.]
Leela: You better not open that beer.
[he did and smirked]
Leela; Well you better not drink it.
[he took a sip]
Leela; Fine, but you better not enjoy it.
[she slapped the beer from his hand, knocking it across the room.]
Fry; (pause) Did you just bitch-slap my beer?
Leela: Are you calling me a bitch?
Fry: No I- okay, this is ridiculous. I’m sick of this, and I’m-
[he stopped when Leela put her hand on her stomach, and looked around]
Fry: Leela? Are you okay?
Leela: Fry, I think my water broke.
Fry: What does that mean?
Leela: Its time!
Fry: Its hammer time? Alright!
[he started doing the MC Hammer dance. Leela smacked his head]
Leela; No you idiot, I’m about to have the baby! We have to get to the hospital!
Fry: Okay, okay, okay. Don’t panic, there’s no need to panic, what ever you do, don’t panic!
Leela: I’m not.
Fry: Good, cause there’s no need to panic!
Leela: Just hurry up!
Fry: Okay, let me grab a shower and then we’ll go!
Leela: A shower?!
Fry: Just hold on!
[before she could object, he ran into the bathroom. After 20 minutes, he still wasn’t out, and Leela saw him brushing his teeth. She was on the phone with her mom.]
Leela: He’s been in there for 20 minutes!
Fry: Hold on, I’ll be right there!
Leela: I don’t know mom, he- oh my God! Are you clipping your fingernails?!
Fry: They’re really long!
Leela: I don’t care, lets go, or I’m gonna have the baby here!
Fry: Okay, okay.
[he ran out of the bathroom and towards the door. Leela held up his keys]
Leela; Not gonna get very far without these!
[he took the keys, and led her out the door]
Leela: Wait my bag!
Fry: I’ll come back and get it later.
[Fry sped to the hospital, and called everyone along the way. Leela was taken to the delivery room, while he waited for everyone. Once Amy and Bender got there, the 3 of them went back to Leela’s room. Amy was carrying a duffle bag and set it down when they got there. Leela was in between contractions when they walked in. Leela told Amy every thing that Fry did, while he stood there sitting like a idiot.]
Amy: I had a feeling Fry would do something stupid, so I packed you an over night bag.
Leela: Thanks Amy.
[Fry sat down next to Leela and took her hand. Her brow was covered in sweat, and Fry wiped it with a cloth.]
Fry: How you feeling?
Leela: I just want this to be over.
Fry: Do you want anything? Do you want me to get you some ice chips, or something?
Leela: Yeah, thank you.
Fry: I’ll be right back. Come on Bender.
[they walked out of the room and went down stairs to the vending machines. Fry hit the button on the ice machine, but it didn’t work. He tried again, and again. Still nothing. So, doing what a smart person would do, he stuck his hand up in the machine. He struggled to get the ice out, but that was the least of his worries. Because now, he had to figure out how to get his hand out.]
Fry: Crap! My hand’s stuck!
Bender: Here let me help.
[he tugged on Fry’s arm and he screamed]
Bender: Good job meat bag. Now you’re gonna miss the baby’s birth.
Fry: No, I’m getting out of here!
[he struggled and Bender sighed. Taking Fry’s phone out of his pocket, he called Amy.]
Bender: Fry got his hand stuck in the ice machine.
Amy: (sigh) Of course he did.
Amy: Fry got his hand stuck in the ice machine.
Leela: (annoyed) Well at least its not his head. We don’t want a repeat of the honeymoon.
Amy: (to Bender) Can you get him out?
Bender: Only if Leela’s okay with him losing his hand. Cause I am.
Bender: He’s being a big baby down here. Tell Leela to come down here and deal with him. He’s her husband.
[Leela screamed as she had another contraction. They were getting closer, so she was almost there.]
Amy: She’s a little busy right now Bender.
Bender: Geeze, she’s already letting that kid take control of her life.
Amy: Just go get help! Leela’s contractions are getting closer, she’s almost ready to have the baby!
Bender: Alright, alright. Jeeze!
[he hung up the phone and looked at Fry.]
Bender: Okay, first off. Your baby has a tail.
Bender: And 3 eyes.
Fry: Will you cut it out?! Just go get some help so I can get back upstairs!
Bender: Okay fine! God, do I have to do everything around here?!
[he went down the hall and Fry sat on the ground. He sighed and struggled again with his hand. The security guard with a hook hand walked by.]
Guard: I wouldn’t do that.
[two doctors, that looked strangely familiar were standing next to Fry. The one had blue scrubs and black hair, the other one with green scrubs was black and bald]
Both: So that’s how it happened!
Fry: Hey, can you guys help me? My wife’s about to give birth and I’m stuck.
J.D.; Sure. By the way, I’m JD, and this is Turk.
Fry: Hi, so what can I do?
JD: Hold on.
[he unplugged the machine and Turk got on the other side.]
JD: Okay, where’s her room?
Fry: Next floor.
Turk: We’re gonna move this thing to the elevator, and take the whole thing to her room.
JD: Do you want our help or not?
Fry: Yeah, okay fine.
[he saw Bender coming back down the hall.]
Fry: Bender help these guys.
[he got behind and they all started towards the elevator. Once they were outside Leela’s room, they tried to get through the door, but the machine was too big. Leela saw Fry struggling to get in the door way.]
Leela: What’s going on?
Fry: My hand’s stuck!
[JD, Turk, and Bender were trying to push the machine in, but couldn’t get it. Finally the Janitor came by and looked at them.]
Janitor: What’s going on?
Turk: This guy’s got his hand stuck in the ice machine, and his wife’s about to give birth.
Janitor: Here let me help.
[he hit a button that said “release” on the back, and they all heard Fry fly across the room.]
Leela; (OS) Are you okay?
Fry: (OS) Yeah, I’m fine.
[he looked at his hand, which was very blue. He screamed but turned his attention back to Leela.]
Doctor: Okay, I think we’re ready to start. Now on the count of 3, I want you to give a big push.
[by this time, Amy, Bender, JD, and Turk were all standing behind Fry. Leela took Fry’s frozen hand when the doctor started counting]
[she squeezed Fry’s hand, and screamed. ]
Doctor: Okay, again. 1...2...3!
[she repeated the same thing, and Fry smiled]
Fry: Come on honey, you can do it!
Doctor: I can see the head. Okay, one more big push. Ready? 1...2...3!
[it was over. The doctor held up a newborn and Leela smiled.]
Doctor: Congratulations, it’s a boy.
[Leela looked at Fry, who’s eyes were welling up. Her hair was a mess, and her face was covered in sweat, but Fry never thought that she looked more beautiful. He put his frozen hand against her forehead, cooling her down.]
Fry: I’m so proud of you Leela. I love you.
Leela: I love you too.
[he kissed her and took her hand. The doctors had cleaned off the baby, and handed him to Leela. She cried tears of joy when she saw him. Fry gently stroked his sons head, while Leela held him in her arms. He had two eyes, Fry’s nose, and purple hair.]
Nurse: So, do you two have a name for him yet?
[Leela looked at Fry and smiled]
Leela; Go on. I know what you want to name him.
[Fry smiled and Leela handed their son to him. He turned around and showed everyone.]
Fry: Everyone, say hello to Michael Fry. (pause) I’m a daddy!
[they all looked at them and smiled. Fry kissed Mike’s head and turned back to Leela.]
Fry: (voice over) These past few years have changed me. I’ve experienced joy, anger, heartbreak, hate, and love. And its all thanks to the girl of my dreams, the love of my life. If it wasn’t for her, I would just be some kid from the stupid ages, lost in a new time. Its also thanks to my friend Mike, if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here right now. He saved my life by giving his own. Leela’s taught me everything though, about love, hope, trust, and what it means to truly love another. But the most important thing she’s taught me about, is faith.
[THANKS FOR READING. I’M COMING UP WITH A NEW ONE, BUT IT WONT BE THIS LONG]
