The weeks went by and soon it was 2 days before Fry and Leela’s wedding. Steve had planned a over night trip to Las Vegas for Fry’s bachelor party and had invited Fry’s old buddy Bender. Sara had planned a girls night out for Leela and invited Amy along with them.
Fry was finishing packing up his bag while Leela was relaxing in the bathtub. He motioned at the camera and knocked at the door.
“You decent?” he asked.
“Fry, I’m in the tub.” she called out.
Ignoring her he opened the door and walked in with the camera man following.
“Fry!” she said covering her self.
“I just wanted to come in and say goodbye.” he smirked sitting on the edge of the tub.
“You’re not leaving for another half hour!”
“Well I don’t know how long you’re gonna take.”
“I promise I’ll be out before you leave.”
“Alright,” he said before pretending to slip and falling in the tub.
He just laughed and got out, his clothes sopping wet. “I’ll see you in a few.”
After changing into a dry pair of black short and a grey shirt Fry did his best to fit his skateboard in the bag and finally got it zipped up. Hearing the door opened he saw Leela come out wearing his dark purple silk robe.
“Hey, what are you doing with my bathrobe?”
“Mine’s in the wash. Plus I like yours better.” she said coyly.
Fry chuckled as he put his hooded sweatshirt on. “So what do you have planed for this evening?”
“Sara’s got a Bachelorette party planned.”
“Oh; booze, strippers, that sort of thing?” he said with a wink. Leela playfully slapped him.
“Well I don’t know, she didn’t say anything. It‘s suppose to be a surprise.”
“I just assumed that Bachelorette parties were the same as Bachelor parties.”
“The same? What exactly do you have planned?”
“Don’t know, Steve’s got it all planned.”
“Well remind Steve that he’s a married man and you and Buddy each have fiancées.”
He laughed before putting his arms around her. “Don’t worry about a thing, you can trust me.”
“I know I can. That’s what I love about you.” she said kissing him. They heard a horn honk and Fry looked out the window, seeing a large Hummer limo.
“They’re here.” he announced picking up his bag. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Have fun,” Leela said hugging him “and behave.”
Fry laughed before kissing her and walking into the hall. “Love you.” he called out.
“Love you too.”
“I’ll call you later tonight.”
He was about to walk down the stairs when a smirk came across his face. “Hey Leela?”
“Yeah?” she said looking out the door. Fry waved and slid down the railing before crashing into the dining room table breaking the glasses that were on it. Leela gasped and Fry stood up laughing.
“You might want to clean that up hon.” he winked as he walked outside.
Leela couldn’t help but laugh. “That’s my husband.”
Fry walked outside and got in the limo. “Bender!”
“Fry! Hey buddy.”
The old friends high-fived as Fry took his seat.
“Longtime no see, huh?” Fry asked tossing his bag to Mike.
“Yeah, so you and big boots are tying the knot?”
“Well lets enjoy your last night as a single man, before your held down by the shackles of marriage and your soul is gone forever.”
“Thanks Bender,” Fry said sarcastically.
“What? I’m just saying. I knew this guy who thought he found the perfect girl, they got married and the first few years were great. But then they started fighting all the time and, well you can probably guess what happened next.”
“They got divorced?” Fry guessed, a hint of wariness in his voice.
“No, he killed her.” Bender said, no emotion in his voice. “You could be next…” he whispered.
“Nice Bender.” Steve said.
“What?” he patted Fry’s shoulder, “I’m sure that wont happen with you and Leela. But if it does, I know a guy…”
“Bender! I’m not gonna kill Leela!”
“You’re right, she’d probably kill you…”
That night Fry crashed on his bed after hours of non stopped partying. Oh crap, I am going to have one hell of a hangover.
Hearing his cell phone ring he put one hand up to his head and reached in his pocket. Putting it on speaker phone he answered. “Hello?”
“Hey Fry,” he heard Leela say.
“Oh, hey sweetheart. What’s up?”
“Are you okay? You don’t sound well.”
“Oh, I’m just tired, and a little drunk.”
“Really? How much have you had to drink?”
“Well take it easy,”
“I’m just going to bed now.”
“Then I’ll let you get some rest and I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Wait, tell me about your night.” he said.
“Oh, well Sara, Audrey, Jessica, Amy and I went out for dinner and drinks then we came back here where they all gave me some early gifts, and Sara got me something for the honeymoon.” she said slyly.
“Ooh,” he smiled, “what is it?”
“I’m not telling.” she taunted. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
“Yeah, in two days we’ll be married.”
“I know, but for now you should get some rest. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Alright, bye Leela.”
“Bye Fry, love you.”
“Love you too.”
He hung up the phone and was asleep in an instant.
The next day Fry was back home and decided to spend some time skating before the rehearsal dinner that night. Leela was out with Sara making sure everything was ready at the restaurant while Steve and Bender were hanging out at the house. Fry got on his board and dropped in. Just like the skate park in New. New York he had the 15 foot gap between the ramp and he decided to jump it. Steve and Bender watched as he gained his speed and jumped. A few seconds later he was in the grass yelling in pain. He had lost his balanced, crushed his one leg against the ramp and began to fall, then landed on his other leg.
“Oh shit!” Steve yelled running over. “Fry are you okay?”
“No! I can’t move my legs!” he said laying on his stomach. “OWW!”
“Oh my God, come on we’ve got to get you to the hospital.”
“How? I can’t even move!”
“Uh-Bender come here!”
Bender ran over and knelt down next to Steve and Fry. “You stay here and I’ll go get his car.”
Steve ran to the house and grabbed the first set of keys he could find and ran out and unlocked Fry’s Mustang before driving over to Fry. He and Bender carefully put him in the car and rushed to the hospital.
About half and hour later Fry was lying on a bed in the ER as the doctor looked at his X-Rays.
“Well Mr. Fry, I’m afraid you have fractured your left leg in 3 different places and you have dislocated your right knee along with breaking your ankle.”
“What? No! I can’t! I’m getting married tomorrow.”
“I’m sorry, but they’re going to take you to put your casts on soon, they‘re also going to give you a immobilizer for your knee.”
Fry sighed and leaned his head back after the doctor left. He looked at Steve who had a shocked look on his face.
“Steve, tell me the truth, how mad is Leela gonna be?”
“Somewhere between not at all and crazy mad.”
“What do you think Bender?”
“She’s gonna kill you.”
The nurse came in helping Fry into a wheelchair and took him to get his casts.
Later that day Leela walked in and saw Fry laying on the couch with a wheelchair at his side.
“Oh my God, what happened?!” she said running over to him. “Fry?”
He sighed and motioned outside, “I fell skating. Broke this leg in 3 places, broke this ankle and dislocated my knee. They popped it back into place, which was painful as hell I might add, but they think I might need surgery on it.”
Leela sat on the edge of the couch next to him and brushed his hair back. “My poor baby,”
“You’re not mad?”
“Mad? I’m just glad you’re okay.”
“But what about our wedding? I‘m gonna be in a wheelchair.”
“It doesn’t matter,”
Fry smiled and Leela kissed his forehead. “Can I get you anything?”
“Well I‘m suppose to ice my legs.”
“No problem, and let me get you some pillows. You should keep your legs elevated.”
She ran upstairs and carefully placed the pillows under his legs then went downstairs to the kitchen and got some icepacks. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
Leela gently picked up his head and put a throw pillow on her lap and rested his head on it.
“We’re getting married tomorrow.” Fry said.
“I know…are you scared?”
“A little. You?”
“Yeah, but we’re gonna be okay.”
“Of course we are.”
The next morning Fry woke up and found a note on the coffee table. He had slept on the couch since he couldn’t go upstairs.
Good morning sweetie, I’ll see you at the church later today. Love you, Leela.
Fry smiled and stretched out his arms. “Hey Bender!”
Bender came upstairs from the kitchen with his morning beer. “Yeah?”
“Can you go get my tux upstairs and bring it downstairs?”
“Yeah sure, but it’ll cost you.”
“There’s $20 on my dresser.”
While Bender was upstairs Steve walked in with his tux slung over his shoulder. “Ready to go buddy?”
“Yeah, Bender’s getting my tux. Can you help me in my wheelchair?”
“No problem.” he said carefully lifting Fry off of the couch and setting him in his chair. Bender came back downstairs holding Fry‘s tux.
“Ready to go?”
“Yeah, lets go.”
Leela was looking at herself in a full length mirror after putting on her dress (which was nothing like the one Fry had found). This one was exactly like the one she wore at their first wedding. But this time it’s gonna have a happy ending. She smiled broadly.
She turned around and saw her mother standing in the doorway with Sara. “Mom!”
Leela ran up and hug her mother. “Hi sweetie.”
They pulled away and Munda looked at her daughters gown. “You look beautiful Leela,”
“How’s your husband to be?”
“He’s okay, except for the fact he has two broken legs.”
“Well I’ll guess it’s something you’ll have to get use to.”
She laughed and smoothed out her dress. “I’m so nervous,”
“Don’t be. You and Fry are made for each other.”
Leela smiled and looked once more in the mirror. “I can’t believe I’m getting married today!”
I can’t believe that I’m getting married today. Fry thought as he was sitting in his wheelchair at the alter fixing his tie. The music started playing and everyone, except him, stood and looked at the back of the church. Steve and Sara walked down the isle first, followed by Bender and Amy, then Buddy and Jessica, and Audrey and Mike. The Professor and Munda came next then Hermes and LaBarbra. Finally Fry saw Leela and Morris make their way towards him. He moved his chair forward a little and watched as Leela smiled at him.
This is it, they both thought.
Morris kissed Leela on the cheek and patted Fry’s shoulder before taking his seat next to Munda and Leela stood next to Fry as he took her hand.
“Okay, lets move along,” Preacherbot said, “I’ve got three more weddings and a funeral to do.”
He cleared his voice and opened the book his was holding, “Dearly beloved and rock stars, I welcome you! We are here to witness Phillip J. Fry and Trunga Leela begin their new lives together. Before we start is there anyone who has a reason that these two should not be joined in the shackles of holy bliss?”
When no one said anything he continued, “Then will the maid of honor please read the first reading according to Spock?”
Bender and Steve were seated next to Fry on the alter while Amy and Sara were next to Leela. While Sara was reading Fry leaned over to Steve.
“Hey,” he whispered, “Is it me, or do you feel like we’re forgetting something?”
They both thought about it for a second when they turned and looked at each other. “The rings!” they whispered.
“They’re in my nightstand,” Fry said, “I put them there so I wouldn’t forget!”
Steve looked at Bender, “We need a distraction so one of us can go back to Fry’s and get the rings.”
“What’s going on?” Leela asked Fry. The three guys looked at her and Fry smiled.
“Nothing sweetie, we’re just saying how beautiful you girls look.”
Leela smiled and squeezed his hand. “Thank you, but please be quiet.”
Fry gave Bender a look and he nodded.
After the reading Bender stood up. “Uh you’re honor I’d like to say something!”
“Bender what are you doing?” Leela asked.
“Hold on Leela.”
He walked as slow as he could to the podium and Steve silently snuck out so no one knew he was leaving.
“There are a few things I’d like to say about this lovely couple,”
“Bender you’re suppose to save your speech for the reception!” Leela said, starting to get angry.
“I said hang on. This wont take long.”
Steve burst through the door to Fry’s house with a camera man following him and ran upstairs as fast as he could. After going into the bedroom he opened the drawer to the nightstand. He rummaged inside pulling out everything and throwing it on the bed.
“Guitar pick, a notebook, a pen, a picture of Leela…wearing lingerie, Fry you dog!” he laughed before realizing what he was suppose to be doing, “Oh! Come on they’ve got to be in here! More guitar picks…Jeeze he has like 50 pens in here! Where are the damn rings? Wait what’s this? Oh just a condom….Ew!”
“…and that’s the story of how Fry and I got tested for STD’s.” Bender said.
Leela looked at Fry who had buried his head in his hands. Where is Steve? he thought
“I remember when Leela thought she was knocked up too.”
The crowd gasped and Leela covered her blushing face with her hands.
“Yeah, hehe, that’s was funny. Do you remember Fry? That was like the third day you were back in New, New York! Although the first day he was back, Leela came into work three hours later because her and Fry did it.”
Leela knew everyone was staring at them but did not move.
“Then they fought because she thought she was knocked up and Fry got hit by a truck.” he laughed hysterically. “I remember going to visit him in the hospital and Leela was on his bed making out with him. Then she gave me a look. Much like the one she‘s giving me now. The ‘I‘m gonna kill you Bender‘ look in her eye. Yeah…she gives that to me a lot.”
Everyone started murmuring and Leela sighed. I am going to kill him and this time I mean it.
Steve had finished cleaning out Fry’s nightstand but found nothing. “Damn it, damn it, damn it!”
He moved to Leela’s nightstand and started looking through her stuff, which was a little weird, he admitted later to Fry. Inside he found her monocle, a picture of her and Fry, a guitar pick that said P.F+T.L, a paperback book, a notepad and some pens, but no rings. Although he did find something quite interesting: a pregnancy test. And it was positive.
Oh my God, Steve thought.
“Before Fry got famous and I first found out that he was dating Leela, I knew it wouldn’t be long until they started shooting DNA at each other.”
Bender was still rambling on and was also smoking a cigar. Leela was clenching her fists and Fry still had his head down praying that Steve would come in soon. His phone vibrated in his pocket and he took it out without anyone noticing and looked at the text from Steve.
I can’t find the rings! I looked through yours and Leela’s nightstand. Just tell her the truth.
He sighed, texted Steve telling him to come back and looked at Bender.
“And you know what?” Bender said, “I was right. I came home one night after being out with some hooker bots, and sure enough they were in Fry’s room-”
“Thank you Bender,” Fry said, “that’s enough!”
“Okay,” he said.
Fry leaned over and looked Leela in the eye.
“What the hell was that?” she whispered.
“We had to cause a distraction because…I forgot the rings. Steve went home to find them, but they’re lost.”
“They’re not lost, Amy has them.”
Fry’s eyes went wide and he looked over his shoulder at Munda and Morris who didn’t look too happy. He smiled nervously and waved.
“Oh God.” he said, “then please don’t be mad when we get home and will probably find out bedroom torn apart.”
“Steve said he went through our nightstands looking for the rings.”
“He went through our nightstands?”
“Yeah, what’s wrong?”
“Can we move on?” Preacherbot asked.
“Yes, sorry.” Leela said standing up, “Just do the short version.”
“Wait a minute.” Fry said causing everyone in the church to groan. “Why are you so freaked out? Are you hiding something from me?”
Steve walked in and everyone turned to look at him.
“Hey everyone.” He said nervously.
“Stephen what are you doing back there?” Sara asked.
“Well get up here.”
He walked up as everyone stared at him. “Hey, how ya doing?”
He ran the rest of the way and Fry looked at him. “Amy had them.”
“What is going on?” Sara asked.
“Fry lost the rings and Leela’s pregnant.” Steve said.
There was another gasp from the crowd and Fry stared at her eyes wide while Leela glared at Steve. He meant to keep it a secret but it slipped out.
“Sorry,” he said.
“I was going to tell you tonight. I’m sorry I hid that from you.”
“Sorry? You’re sorry?!”
Leela looked down at her feet but felt Fry take her hands. “Leela, we’re going to have a baby. Do you know how happy that makes me?”
She smiled and hugged him. “I love you, Fry.”
“Okay that’s it!”
Fry and Leela both looked at Preacherbot who was getting pretty angry. “Are we going to do this or not?”
“Yes,” they both said.
“Fine, we’re going to do the short, short version. Do you?” he asked Leela.
“Do you?” he asked Fry.
“Put on the rings.”
Amy gave Leela the rings which they quickly put on.
“Great, you’re married. Kiss her.”
Fry smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you,” Leela said before kissing him.
Everyone in the crowd looked at each other before clapping. Fry and Leela broke the kiss and he pulled her down on his lap before wheeling down the isle. He didn’t even notice the sign Bender had put on the back of his chair that said “Newly Married Meatbags.”
“I’m sure you’ll never forget our wedding now.” Fry laughed.
To his surprise, Leela wasn’t mad. “It wouldn’t matter if that whole thing happened or not. I would always remember it because it was the day that you and I started our life together.”
He smiled and kissed her again.
“Although if that was our wedding, I’m a little scared to see what the rest of our lives are going to be like.” she teased.
“Trust me Leela, it’s going to be the time of your life.”
