“Fry, can you hear me?”
Fry opened his eyes and saw a man in his late 20’s with spiked blond hair wearing scrubs.
“What happened?” he groaned.
“You were hit by a truck. You’re lucky to be alive, because of all the blood you lost. But someone must really like you, since they came in and donated blood until we told her to stop.”
The doctor left the room and Fry looked around. He saw wires to a heart monitor, and an IV in his arm. A bag of blood also hung with the IV and had the words AB Positive on it.
“They were out of IM, but they said that this was good enough.” someone said.
Fry turned his head and saw Leela standing in the door way, a bandage on her arm.
“Hi sweetie.” she said teary-eyed. “Oh, look at you.”
He had a large bandage around his head, scratches and cuts all over his face, and his left collarbone had been broken and his arm was now in a sling.
“Leela, I was so stupid. I never should of walked out like that. Can you forgive me?”
“Of course I forgive you Fry, I love you.”
She sat down on the edge of the bed and kissed him.
“The doctors said you can leave in a few days. In the meantime, Steve said he would move my stuff to your apartment.”
It took a second for her words to register, and Fry smiled.
“Well you can’t expect me to let you go home by yourself in your condition, can you?”
Fry smiled and Leela gently hugged him.
Fry was sitting up in bed in his private room at Taco Belleview Hospital. He had been moved there from the ICU a couple hours ago and Steve, Mike, and Buddy came over after Leela called them. Once they arrived Leela said goodbye and made her way to her doctors appointment.
“So what’s going on with Leela?” Buddy asked. “Is she sick or something?”
“Uh, no. She might be pregnant.”
The three of them stared at Fry, eyes wide.
He explained what happened on the ship and Steve leaned back in his seat.
“So now what?”
“Well it doesn’t matter, she’s moving out to LA with me and we’re gonna be together.”
Steve, Mike, and Buddy left about half an hour later when Leela came back.
“So?” Fry asked.
Leela took his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze.
“We’re not going to be parents just yet.”
Fry just shook his head.
“You okay?” Leela asked.
“Yeah. It’s just that, you know, I was kind of excited. I mean, I’ve always wanted kids.”
“I know, I felt the same way. But it’ll happen someday.” she paused and looked at him. “Right?”
He smiled. “Yeah.”
A few weeks later Fry and Leela were packing up boxes and getting ready to move into their new house.
After Fry got out of the hospital, they spent a few days in New. New York before saying goodbye and heading out to California. About four days after they arrived Steve called saying that the house next to his and Sara’s went up for sale.
Fry and Leela made an offer on it the next week.
14 acres of land, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 floors, a large basement, a pool, a four car garage, and a large deck. Fry was also planning on building his own private skate park out back.
“Is this the last box?” Leela asked as she labeled it and sealed it up.
“Uh, no. There’s one more small one.”
“You want me to help you?”
Fry looked at the sling on his arm. “No, I’ll be able to get it.”
Leela stacked the last box as he walked out of the room.
What is he talking about? she thought as she finished counting them. They’re all here.
“Here it is!” Fry said.
Leela turned around and saw Fry holding a small black velvet box.
“Fry, what is that?”
“Well open it and you’ll find out.”
She took the box and her eye went wide when she saw what it was. Inside was a silver ring with purple and red stones around a diamond.
“Fry, is this…”
Fry just smiled and shook his head.
“Leela,” he said getting down on one knee, “will you marry me?”
She shook her head slipping the ring on the finger. “It’s something I should of done a long time ago.”
Fry stood up and put his arm around Leela. “Come on, lets go home.”
Fry and Leela were sitting on the couch in their new home later that day. Steve, Sara, Mike, Audrey, Buddy and Jessica had helped them move everything in and unpack. It took all day but by 8:00 it was finally done.
The walls in the living room were white at the top and a black bottom, and a brick wall against the east side of the room with a large fireplace. They had Fry’s large leather couch in front of it and the flat screen hanging on the wall above the fireplace. Next to the living room was the dining area and the stairs. On the second floor was Fry and Leela’s room along with the four other rooms that they had yet to decided what to do with.
Their room was a dark royal purple color and a King size canopy bed sat in the middle of the room. There was also the master bathroom with a steam shower and a Jacuzzi tub. But Leela’s favorite part was the balcony right outside.
Downstairs in the basement was a lounge area, the kitchen, and the laundry room. There was a second fire place down there as well, and a door leading outside.
Outside was Fry’s garage with his black Mustang and his red Lamborghini. He and Steve decided that since he had a four car garage, he needed two more cars. So, without Leela’s knowledge, they went and purchased a blue Hummer and a silver Mercedes and were going to pick them up as soon as Fry got his sling off.
The two of them were sitting on the couch in the living room while Leela talked on the phone to her mom.
“That’s right, we’re getting married.”
“Oh I am so happy for you darling. When’s the big day?”
“Mom, we just got engaged a few hours ago. It’s not like we’re getting married next week.”
“I wanted to elope, but she wouldn’t go for it.” Fry said laughing.
Leela playfully smacked his good arm. “He’s kidding. All the moving has made his delirious.”
She heard her Munda laugh on the other line.
“How’s he feeling? His arm doing any better?”
“Yeah, actually. We’re going to the doctors tomorrow to see if he can start using it again.”
“Well tell him good luck and we’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay, I will. Bye Mom.”
They hung up and Leela looked at Fry.
“Nothing. I just can’t believe this.”
“What do you mean?”
“Fry, I’ve never been so happy in my life.”
“Neither have I.”
The next day Fry was sitting on the exam table in his doctors office with Leela. His sling was off and he had just gotten back from getting some X-Rays. There was a knock at the door and Fry’s doctor, a tall man with black hair and glasses, came in.
“So is everything okay Dr. West?”
“Everything’s fine. Your collar bone looks like it’s healed completely. She’s done a good job of taking care of you.” he said pointing at Leela. “But for now, just take it easy and slowly begin to use your arm again. I would recommend doing some light exercises then ice it. Otherwise, everything’s great.”
“Awesome.” Fry said smiling.
“But I would like to see you back in about three weeks. You can make the appointment on your way out. Have a good day you two.”
He walked out of the room and Leela took Fry’s hand before walking out.
“So, what do you wanna do?”
“Well, I have plans with Steve, but it’ll only take like half an hour. How about when we’re done, you, me, Steve, and Sara go out for lunch.”
Leela and Sara decorating the walls of the house when they heard two horns honking loudly outside.
“What now?” Leela said.
They walked outside and saw Fry and Steve pulling up into the driveway. Steve was driving a blue Hummer and Fry was driving a silver Mercedes Benz. Fry got out of the car and smiled.
“What are those?” Leela asked putting her hands on her hips.
“Well since Fry has a four car garage, we decided that he needed two more cars.” Steve said getting out of the Hummer.
“So, you bought two cars without talking to me about it? And lets not mention the type of cars you bought.”
“Relax honey. There was a sale.” Fry said, but Leela didn’t seem amused. “Plus I was thinking about you, that’s why I bought you this car.”
“I can’t believe you would just-wait, what?”
“The Mercedes is yours.”
She walked over to him and looked at car.
Fry shook his head.
“Fry, that’s so sweet.” she said hugging him.
Sara watched them and Steve walked over to her.
“How come you never buy me cars?”
Sara stared him down.
“I’m gonna kill Fry.”
Sara laughed and put her arm around him.
“Come on, lets take these for a test drive.” Fry said.
They all got in the Hummer and drove down the street.
“That was so much fun Fry.” Leela said.
She and Fry were walking into their house around 10:00 that night. After they went out with Steve and Sara, they all spent the afternoon walking around downtown LA until about 5:00 when Sara said they had to go pick up Iris from her parents house. When Fry and Leela got home Fry suggested that they went out for dinner. He changed into a nice pair of jeans, a white collar shirt and a black blazer while Leela changed into a black cocktail dress. After having dinner at a small restaurant with barely any people in it, they drove down to the beach where they walked in the sand until the sun set.
“I’m glad you had fun.” Fry said smiling.
He unlocked the door and they made their way upstairs. Fry changed into a pair of black gym shorts and a white sleeveless shirt before sitting up in bed and tugging at his shoulder. Leela came in wearing her pink nightgown and a bag of ice in her hand.
“Fry, stop that. You‘re gonna hurt yourself.”
She kneeled on the bed next to him and placed the ice on his shoulder.
“How are you feeling?”
“It’s just a little sore.”
“I know what will make it better.”
She carefully and gently started massaging his shoulder, and Fry felt his pain start to subside.
“That feels great Leela.”
She smiled and rested her chin on his other shoulder.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
He turned his head and smiled before kissing her.
“I always have.”
The months went by and Fry and Leela began planning their wedding, or at least Leela began to. Fry however began building his skate park out back with Steve‘s help. He did help Leela though, just to make sure she didn’t get mad at him. He went with her to pick out his tux and helped her pick out a date (December 31st). Sara went with Leela to look at some places for the ceremony and the reception. Over the past few months, Sara and Leela became the best of friends. They both agreed that the thing they had most in common were their idiot husband and fiancée.
Leela was sitting on the couch going through the mail when Fry came in smiling.
“Hmm….just a shot in the dark here. You finally found your brain?” she teased.
Fry chuckled and shook his head.
“You’re right, that’s never gonna happen.”
Fry jumped on the couch and started tickling her.
“Take it back!”
“Never!” she said laughing and tickling him back. They finally stopped when Fry fell off the couch.
“Anyway,” he said catching his breath, “Guess who has a new reality show on MTV?”
She looked at him and saw the excitement in his eyes.
“Fry’s Unholy Union starts production in November.”
“It’s a joke, don’t worry.”
“Wait, did you say ‘yes’ without talking to me?”
“No, that’s what I came out here for. They just called and told me everything and I said I would talk to you about it. So what do you think?”
“Our own reality show?”
“Yeah, about us planning our wedding.”
Fry got off the floor and sat down next to her, explaining everything. By the time he was done, Leela already made her decision.
“Okay, lets do it.”
