October 2012

So it will soon be that most macabre of holidays, Halloween, when we literally let the skeletons out of our closets and other fun stuff. And so to celebrate that we have a couple of Halloween themed bits 'o Fan Art from kaspired. This one is called “All Hallows Eve” and it is a creepy strange drawing. I'll let kaspy tell if from here: “When I started it, I had no idea where it was going. I tried one thing, didn't like it, erased part of that, tried something else, erased some of that, and on it went. The thing just started and took on a life of it's own. The black figure with the face mask was based on a character in Hayao Miyazakis' movie Spirited Away. The original character is a shapeless black blob, and me being me, well, I just couldn't leave it shapeless. It looks like Kiff is realizing something is wrong, and Fry doesn't know what's happening. That's okay, neither do I.”.

And this one is called “Wrong Catch” (I had to look at it a couple of times to make sure it wasn't Wong catch) - this is a Halloween party and K calls it a “ silly drawing. I've always wanted to draw one of the crew as a mermaid, and this was a great opportunity.”. The only flaw I can spot in this drawing - Leela fishes with a harpoon, but that would have made for a messy and less silly picture.

Happy Halloween everyone!
It's the apocalypse alright

And since apocalypses often involve zombies, let's start with a Fan Fiction that involves both. It's part 1 for Future Apocalypse from Lauren Smiles. It's basic premis is based on Resident Evil where in Leela wakes up confused just as Amy runs through the door and zombies attack. They go into a shopping mall and find other survivors and also a reptile-human hunter, which Leela kills ... but has she?

And here's some Fan Art from EsmeraldHeart which his friend Anichysaur64 Emma sent me a while back. I kinda put them on the back burner waiting for a reply to a couple of questions I had about them, but the reply never came. So, protip - if you send me stuff, check your e-mail every once in a while - I might have questions that are delaying your stuff from getting put up. Anyway, I decided to wing it and put them up. The good new is that I did not spot any zombies in this batch.

“Welcome to the World of Tomorrow! Well... sort of!” - that was the intro that !iMmOrTaL! gave for the latest additions to his latest Fan Comic Welcome to The World of Sorrow. There's seven new pages, and he goes on to say “There have been a few changes and the only one who seems to have noticed is none other than Philip J Fry. Whilst the Planet Express crew investigate a strange anomoly in the cosmos, Fry is entangled in its bizarreness and transported to an alternate reality of his once beloved Future where no one knows who he is. Not his best friend, Bender, nor his distant relative, the Professor, not even the woman of his dreams, Leela!
Now Fry must not only find away home, but assist his not so familiar friends in an uprising against it's tyrannical dictator, Mom!”.
Bricks, Ships, and Stuper heroes (not necessarilly in that order)

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the planet, although it feels like that sometimes. And of course there's are times when I wish could get off the planet for a while. So I have a few spare moments and I may have finally gotten this recalcitrant computer beat into submission, at least for the moment, so let's go before it decides to flake out again. The first order of business today is a new Comic Transcript that dinkdrinker knocked out. This one is Delivery-Boy Man, which is the third special edition comic and was available at Comic-Con in 2010. Now all you losers who didn't make it to CC in 2.01K (like me ) can know the origins of Delivery-Boy Man, Boxer the Robot, Leelis Lane, and all the others denizens of this particular universe.

And dinkdrinker isn't done with us yet, 'cause he's got a new Fan Fiction called ... And Life is Like a Song in which Fry and Leela go out on a simile heavy date.

And finally, if you only have time for a very short read, a Rush fic. This one is called simply Bricks which has Bender building a brick wall in the lounge (and we all know where he got the bricks).
Life, death, life, and death

I bet I know what you're thinking - it's Thursday and Tim never updates on Thursday, so what's up with that? Well, every once in a while you gotta be a little nuts, so I'm told, and since it's been a few day (insert stock "I've been busy" excuse here) I thought I'd get a couple of quick things taken care of. And those quick things are some Fan Fiction.

First, comprising the life, death, and life parts of todays headline, are a couple from Rush. There is Zoidberg is Hungry (there's something new we didn't know ) in which (are you ready for this?) Zoidberg is hungry. Then madness ensues. And then there is Scruffy's Manly Tears It was just a normal boring day for Scruffy the janitor, until tragedy strikes.

And then there's Matters of Life and Death from Dwayne Anderson. This is part 17 and it's called So-dead. As you may recall, this series has various characters dieing in various gristly and often messy ways, and this one is no exception when a vary major character learns the hard way that winning at all costs can have a very high price.
Breaking the second wall

Many of you are no doubt familiar with a certain American sitcom that aired in the late 80's and most of the 90's, starred one of the principal voice actors from Futurama, and was in fact spoofed in one episode. Well, Pieter Antonissen has taken it a step further in his newest short comic called Love and Marriage. I'm sure you'll figure it out the moment you see the first page.

Pieter also has this bit o Fan Art which is a preview of coming attractions. Pieter sez “I'm still working on the long comic (Four Better or Four Worse), and another idea has set in motion along the way - WallStreetFighter. That comic is planned for 2013 and spoofs the fighting scene and world wide economic crisis. I have finished the cover and would like to make it "official". The rest, it's still in development.”. Looks like it's gonna be fun on a bun, in space!
Five for the price of one

In the first 80% of todays update you get four adventures for the price of one in this new Fan Fiction from Gulliver63 as the Planet Express crew have to enter paraboxes to deliver packages. Oh, and you get to find out what an orange card is. It's all there in Parabox Express. Also if you take a peek at his Fan Art pages you'll find a few illuminating illustrations to go with it.

Lauren Smiles dropped by with this pointer to a fan video she made using some clips from The Sting set to the music Bring to life by Evanescence. The vid is on vimeo at the moment - when I get some time and my main computer fixed (again) I'll get it uploaded to Madhouse's Video Clips section.
An animated evening
Posted on October 7, 2012 by Tim
I've spent a fun and entertaining evening doing battle with a computer that's developing a bad case of memory loss so this is coming to you via my ancient but trusty laptop. So first up are a couple of animations by Alanquest. This first one is an Animated GIF of Leela and Bender waiting for Fry in his new apartment from A Fishfull of Dollars.
Alanquest also has this little Video Clip called Love Bots, it's a Flash animation and includes sound from the episodes.

And what update would be complete without a Fan Fiction from Rush? This one is called Rama Rangers. In it, Fry asks the What If Machine what if life was more like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers?

I'm still here. Really! I haven't given up on this place. Oh my no. I've been keeping busy with Real Life™ junk, like trying to move and work and fun stuff like that. And also contributions are kind of scarce right now; there's a couple of things that I'm waiting for replies on, but at least there is this one thing I can do. It's a bit of Fan Art from Lord Nibbler, who is expert at taking frame grabs from other shows and adapting them to 'rama. This one is a Family Guy grab, with Leela and Seymour on the Nude Beach Planet.
