Missed it by that much ...
Posted on October 31, 2011 by Tim
So if you thought yesterdays kaspired pic was scary, check out this one that just missed the deadline. The message for Fry might be “be careful what you wish for, you might get it”. Or maybe don't go to alternate universes on Halloween.
And since it is still technically Halloween where I am, here's one more. Dinggsda found this, and if that showed up at my door, I toss a bucket of krill at it and run like the h-word. It's in the Miscellaneous Pictures section. And you know, if they can do that, a live action Futurama movie anyone ....

Happy Halloween everyone! Just so no one has any real reason to TP and egg the Madhouse again this year, here's a whole bunch of treats for ya. First up, an important Halloween safety tip from kaspired - Be careful who you open the door for. It may just be this.
Now we have a couple of Halloween Fan Fictions. The first one is called Brick or Treat (I'm surprised Rush didn't come up with that title first ). I'm going to say this was by dinkdrinker, 'cause he's the one that sent it to me and I put it in his fan fic page. BUT he says that Umbreon and Joe contributed to this story. Who contributed how much I can't say because there seems to be some difference of opinion amongst the various contributors.
Too Much of a Good Thing might aptly describe the morning after Halloween when we're all sick from eating too much candy, but in this case, it's the title of a Fan Fiction by Gulliver63 and Robert Stewart. It has a little touch of horror in it, and we also get to find out what happens when Leela and Amy get too much of a good thing, and why Fry's lack of a delta brain wave is definitely a good thing - again. G also made two promo pics to go along with it, they're both on his fan art page.
And closing out the spooky update tonight are two one page Fan Comics, both by Gulliver63. One is Scary Door - The Little People and the other is Thingarama where we find that hell hath no fury like an Amy Wong with alien DNA.
Iron Starfighters and Iron Stomachs
Posted on October 28, 2011 by Tim
Now that's a combination, isn't it? As usual, it's two different things. First is a new Fan Fiction and Fan Art combo from Stingray. The fic is called Iron Starfighter and the fan art is a way cool movie poster like promo pic. In the fic, Fry discovers an old arcade game that will help lead him to victory in a galaxy far away. Prepare for the ultimate space battle with an epic soundtrack!
Now it must take an iron stomach to make your living on the high seas, which plays into our next item. We have another genuine FM/TLZ Webmaster Interview wherein my right hand deputy MC interviewed fanfic author and FMMB moderator Flounder, who just happens to ply the worlds oceans for a living. Fortunately for the interviewer in this one, they were on dry land at the time. Anyway, give it a read and check out the wit and wisdom of Flounder.
Short, sweet, and zero-G
Posted on October 26, 2011 by Tim
This may be the shortest update I've ever done in my 1,880 days as webmaster hereabouts but for reasons many and varied it's the only thing I can get put up in it's entirety in the time I have available today, and I didn't want this place to get too cob-webby. So, obviously, we have some Fan Art. It's from Ben Cain. He didn't give a back story on the pic, but the file name is “mechaleela” so that ought to tell you something. And it does kinda have that zero-G look about it.
Downsized and double bagged.
Posted on October 23, 2011 by Tim
Ok, I know, you're probably wondering if I got sucked down a black hole or something 'cause it's been kinda quiet around here. Truth be told, I've had a nasty cold for about a week now and just haven't felt like doing much. Also the old in box has been pretty quiet too; about the only thing to come in recently are these two new Comic Transcripts. Dinkdrinker scribed #29, which is called Downsized, in which Fry, Leela, and Bender all get “downsized” (literally). And then #30 ('scribed by Umbreon) which is called Fry & The Double-Bag, Must-Have Item! sees the PE crew making a delivery to the universes biggest nerd, from who they learn that a certain comic book is worth a couple of Bender sized fortunes - a comic book Fry hid back in the 20th century.
My brain is melting
Posted on October 19, 2011 by Tim
So all of you coin-a-sewers out there, grab some cham-pagen and let's have us a look at some high-brow inspired Fan Art. Now I realize that it isn't tattooed on a fat guys stomach, but let's please try to be objective. So, this thing that looks like a glob of melted crayons (you try cramming an 8 meg picture into 120x90 and see what you get) is the latest in kaspired's Picasso binge. He says it was “lots of fun, and it's really pushing my limits. My brain is melting. So this time it's Amy. Based on Picasso's Femme au Chapeau Bleu of October 1939. Since Amy seems to favor pink this one is titled Femme au Chapeau Rose (Woman with a Pink Hat). Sorry but there isn't much of a story to go with it. Only some compositional rambling. Thin neck, wide square head, multiple viewpoints of features. And details like arms and body, well, nope. They're unimportant. Now can you see why my brain is melting?”. Yes. Yes I can.
Now if that didn't melt your brain enough, here's two more Fan Fictions from Rush. The first one is called Round and Round Through Time and is set a day after the events of The Late Philip J. Fry in some parallel universe where Farnsworth has got another time machine invention (and that description probably has a higher word count than the actual fic). The other is Trouble In Space in which Fry, Leela and Bender are stuck in traffic in space, but as it turns out there is more than that annoyance to contend with.
And finally, to make sure your brain is extra crispy, we leave you with a new Fan Art a la Jenny Ngo. Jenny sez “I learned how to draw an anime version of Fry.”. Errr .... should that maybe be “Frys”?
A'hoy there, Meatbags!

Tales of video games and Arachno-Spores
Posted on October 16, 2011 by Tim
So what do you do if your siblings are playing a video game and won't let you play? Simple, the adult thing to do is run screaming to your mother. At least that's how it is in the Mom household in this new Mini-Fan Comic by Alanquest. It's a one pager in which Igner comes up with a novel solution to an age old problem.
And now for the Fan Fiction du jour, apparently someone didn't like comic #54 (I don't have that one yet - I got a little behind and it's supposedly on the way), and here's the tale - we have a Hermes and Bender fic called The Arachno-Spore Robot. It's written by Trenton Sands and he describes it thusly: “Do androids dream of weed farms? If so, does one go to the Planet Desert Canyon and becomes hellbent on taking it all to build a Doomsday Device? All the while is a certain Jamaican Beaurocrat's secret stash is stolen and has no choice but to recruit the help of a trash talking, beer guzzling robot? Ask no more! Your silly questions will be answered in this fanfic which should've been the concept for issue #54!”.
Aww crap, another wooden universe
Posted on October 14, 2011 by Tim
Ok, I'm back. It's been a busy week. There's lots of stuff in the queue and I'm a little Rushed tonight so let's just have a quick Rush-o-rama fest. First up, Rush sends a new Fan Art - it's a wooden Bender character from Minecraft. He doesn't say if he made it or found it somewhere.
And over in Fan Fiction land Rush sent a whole steaming pile of new fan fics. I've got three of them up so far, and it'll take you less time to read them than it did for me to post them, so here we go:
- Journey to Work: Fry and Bender are trying to get to work, it's just one of those days when life seem to throw obstacles in their way at every turn.
- Mad-O-Rama: Amy dressed as a Leprechaun? Leela in a pink mini skirt? And Farnsworth is sporting a horned Viking helmet? Just another routine day at Planet Express? Sure seems like it to one very confused delivery boy.
- Rama Light: Universe Jumping Bender pops into a new universe that looks a lot like Twilight. Apparently U-J-B didn't like Twilight very much.
Shiver me nunchucks, it's pirates and ninjas!
Posted on October 8, 2011 by Tim
Let's start with pirates 'cause we have pictures of those. So a while back, !iMmOrTaL! hinted strongly that we was working on a new Fan Comic to be called Tales of Meatbag Island. Well, it's mostly finished but not quite ready for publication yet, so while he's putting the finishing touches on some top secret special features, !iMmOrTaL! submits for your approval this cover art and a couple of character designs of Fry and Amy as pirates. And also, completely unrelated to the comic, is a pic that is sure to please the Amy fans.
Ok, on to ninjas. A while back, Trenton Sands decided to get out of Futurama fandom and try his hand at other creative endeavors. Well it turns out that we Futurama fans are apparently way more appreciative of a good Fan Fiction, and so TS has “come home” as it were; here's his comeback fic Enter The Ninja. In it, Fry gets tricked into thinking Leela is in trouble and ends up getting kidnapped by Ninjas from the Planet Sayonara to force him to work at a sweatshop. Meanwhile, the police recruit Bender and Leela to go undercover.
You talk much smack

Here is Gulliver63's latest Fan Fiction wherein we re-visit the steamy jungles of Amazonia. Will Zapp Brannigan be facing death by snu-snu, or just death? Will Kif finally become a hero? And how is the Amazonian tribeswoman named Neeta changed forever? All will be revealed in Educating Neeta. The pic is cover art that the big G (not to be confused with the “big”Z) did.
Retro II: Strangers in the Past
Posted on October 4, 2011 by Tim
Noir week continues here at the oldest living Futurama fansite. Return with us now to the thrilling days of yesteryear and check out Fry in a suit, Fedora hat, and spats; Bender in a vest, loafers, and Derby; and Leela in a clingy blue evening gown, white open toed heels, and a mink stole as our intrepid crew finds themselves back in 1947 after a slight mishap with some crushed opal. Actually it was a lot of crushed opal so there's no telling how long they're going to be there. Needing a place to stay and food and drink 'till the effect wears off, Leela and Fry find work in a night club as a singer and bar tender respectively, while Bender gets involved with some shady characters. The story is Frosty's latest Fan Fiction called Strangers In The Past. Plus, she's also created two promo pics which are on her Fan Art page. Also, you'll notice the the lines of Leela's singing in the story are links - they'll take you to YouTube videos of the actual songs (not sung by Leela however).
She shoots, she scores, she thows up on Zap Brannigan's boots.

In honor of our former name sake The Leela Zone today we feature two very Leela-centric contributions. First is another Fan Art from Ben Cain. It's called “Leela in peril” and it seems like someone's got her just a mite on edge. I'm sure glad it wasn't me.
And to cover those last two categories we have a Fan Fiction from Frosty. It's titled Knocked Up which is based on the movie with the same title with Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, when Fry and Leela spend one intoxicated night together things get a bit crazy. Then two months and several pregnancy tests later the two of them must deal with an intense, anxious and hilarious seven month journey.

Retro future, retro past, and ... I've never seen anything so mind-blowing. Ooh, a reception table with muffins!
Posted on October 2, 2011 by Tim
Retro-future: first time contributor Alanquest was inspired by Futurama comic #57 and did this Fan Art of Turanga Leela in what he describes as a “Steampunk Stance”. I'm inspired too, she could shovel my coal any day.
Retro past: Return with us now to the thrilling days of a future yesteryear where nothing is black and white, except when it was on the movie screen, then it was all black and white. It's all there in a new Fan Fiction from MC called It's Moidah. Written in the noir style of hardboiled detective fiction of the 1930s and 40s, it follows the adventures of private detective Philip J. Fry and his rough and ready crew: Leela, a wanna-be actress working as a maid; Bender, a bending unit and small time hustler; Zoidberg, talent agent, dumpster dweller, and alleged mansion designer; and Kif, a master of disguise; as they fight the evils of police corruption, poverty, and scorning lovers, all the while trying to clear their names, ... names sullied by a charge of MOIDAH!
And .... then there's this Fan Art of Leela. Really, that's Leela .. only as you've never seen her before. It is at this point that I will let kaspired explain: “I visited the DeYong Museum in San Francisco yesterday. There is a major show of Picasso artwork being shown. Oooo! Aaaah! Now I feel like there will be a series based on his work. Things like these. Both are just pencil sketches, but still hopefully interesting. The first is our favorite spaceship captain like you've never seen her. And the second will be a cubist take off of Fry playing the Slide Holophoner. I've just started to break him up into the zillion different planes but this is the basic pose.”. A day or so later he also sent the finished version of the Picasso/Leela drawing you see here.
