Futurama

September 2006
Impatient about getting the message across that Futurama is coming back? Want to help it along? Want to do something that bit extra? Well, why not create your own advert...
Posted on September 26, 2006 by Graham
Yes, you're just fed up waiting for the new series to start. You sit there wondering what you can do to pass the time. You're bored as hell sitting there twiddling your thumbs and big toes. Boy, life sucks! However, in the recesses of your mind you realise you could do something interesting, something meaningful and something that just might get you attention. Why, let's make our own adverts about the coming series of Futurama on Comedy Central! Yay! Anyway, Speedbump Studios have come up with their own advert for the coming Futurama series, which you'll find in our Video Clips section. Although this isn't an official advert for the coming series, you'd expect it to be once you've watched it. The advert is done in 3D and all Bender fans will be delirious to know it stars the metal dude. Maybe Comedy Central might considering giving them a job or something, but that would be making us into some sort of employment agency. Err... enjoy!
Here's to The Best of Times ...
Posted on September 25, 2006 by Tim
... and Worst of Times which by sheer coincidence is the title of an epic work of fan fiction by Kriebs, part 5 of which just went up in the Fan Fiction section. And along with that, pictured to my right, is a piece of Fan Art which relates to the story. Fry is sporting a decidedly unhappy look, and judging by scars on his face and the sword he's packing, someone's in for an ass whoopin'.

We've also got a couple more new fics just in - Talora by SoylentOrange and Trenton Sands' latest The Road To Fanzipar.

I also received a suggestion about putting up a brief description of each fan fic. While we mull over what to do about that, I will mention for the benefit of any newcomers to TFM (or for those old timers that may have missed it) there is a synopsis of each fic under each author's listing.
The Suicide Booth
Posted on September 21, 2006 by Sarah
Ah yes, I have been sent some terrific art! So, with myself aside for once, here's another piece of fan art from J. Perdue, featuring a Suicide Booth going crazy with killing goodness!

Now does someone want to help me link people's names? Excellent. Till then; Welcome to the Future!
The topsy-turvy world of GTA modding...
Posted on September 21, 2006 by Graham
I got a load of emails from Futurama_Freak1-MODFIA, the submitter with the very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long name (oh, crap... I said to him that I wouldn't talk about his long name again!), about his latest project: to make a Futurama mod of GTA (I think it's the Vice City one, but I know squat about games, so don't take my word for it). The emails expressed the frustrations and joys of making such a mod, eventually ending with some form of success. However, while Futurama_Freak1-MODFIA, the submitter with the very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long name (d'oh!), comes up with a working version of his GTA mod (it'll be a public beta version, and it'll be strongly advised that you only use this if you know what you're doing and willing to take responsibilities if anything goes pear-shaped), you'll have to do with some screen shots of his work on the Futurama GTA mod, which you'll find on his page in our Fan Art section. As you'll see, they look quite impressive and should make your mouths water for more. Anyway, once he's got a working version and given me the link to it (along with the readme file), then I'll inform you about it in an update. Until then, enjoy the pics.
Just a little side-note

I just wanted to say that I am now starting to put up art and such, so people send me art too! I'm not sure I've actually received any yet, though spam aplenty! So, whilst I am sitting looking at the screen and all it's functions like you all just keep in mind; Fan Art is Smart! Oh I am so boned for that comment. Cheese it!

Sarah.

Four updates so far this month and it's only the 19th we're on a roll so here's the latest mailbox dump.

We've got two new pics in the Fan Art section with a couple of pictures of Leela from Pawprints.

Also something new, an addition of a new Claw Plaque match with Mayor Poopenmeyer vs Gorgax of Trisol.

And, last but not least, what else but some more Fan Fiction. See the top fifteen list, which is only fourteen at the moment since I rearranged the list but that'll change quickly if things keep up.
Crazy Sun of a Bitch!

OK, some more stuff has managed to wing its way to me. Some of this stuff is about three weeks old, so may need some cobwebs blown off it to fully appreciate. The two sets of works are for our Fan Art section, one from a old submitter who has got bored of his name, and the other from a new contributor. Starting with the one who wanted a change of name by Deed Poll, who now goes under the name of Iceman t3h pwnr, which is two words more than his original ICEMAN0O0 but with less capitals, he's come up with two pictures, both the same but one is coloured and the other isn't. The picture features Leela with gun, which might not be that unexpected, but what is unexpected is the manic sun behind her. Heck, it's pure, unadulterated evil it is! Mind you, now that I think of it, I might brick myself in anticipation if Iceman drew the moon in similar style.

Now to the new one's stuff. Welcome aboard Benders_Fan, who has come up with three hand created pictures for our Fan Art section. The picture you can see to your left shows Bender, who seems to be in his usual foul mood self. Maybe he's met that sun from above. Benders_Fan's other two pictures show Fry in his spacesuit, as well as a picture of Leela with other versions of her in different stages of her life (I think... unless some mad scientist has created clones of Leela, all with different age accelerations and whatnots). Well, the pictures are a bit dark, because they seem to be photographed using a digital camera rather than being scanned by a scanner, but that darkness doesn't distract from the nice work on show. Then again, maybe they're dark because that manic sun from above got locked away in some asylum. The world is saved for the day! Then again, there's always the night...
But wait ... there's more

Today, with some handholding from Graham I figured out how to do Fan Art. So first up, we gots us a new one from J Perdue which is giant Bender battling a supersized Zoindberg la AOI 1, although in this version, Planet Express seems to have suffered a bit of collateral damage.

And there's also several more fics added to the Fan Fiction section. If this keeps up, I may have to make the fifteen latest list a bit longer for a while so everyone gets more than a week on it.

Hardy Boys, too easy. Nancy Drew, too hard. Aha! Perfect! Fan Fiction!

Yup, 14 more works of fiction are up in the Fan Fiction section. And to think Graham told me this would be hard work.
