Hey, I remember this place!

Bet you thought I'd gotten lost and this place had turned into a cobweb. Well, not entirely. I didn't get lost, but I have been “off the grid” for a while - sometimes it's fun to disconnect and go play at the other end of the technology spectrum. But now that I've run out of coal and vacation time I guess I'd better see what's happening around here. So anyway, today I'm just checking in, there's no real news this time, other than the newest (and lastest ) season is in full swing, which anyone around here probably already knows - naturally it premiered while I was gone and I still haven't seen 'em.

So, there's a couple of things in the old in box but I think those are gonna wait 'till tomorrow after I've had a good night's sleep and a couple of more showers.
It's a frame up I tells ya!

One of the great Fan Artists who we haven't heard much from lately dropped this off today - the thumbnail doesn't even begin to do it justice, but how do you make a decent 4x3 thumbnail of an image that's over four times longer than it is high? You don't, so the next best thing is to crop out Leela and Bender and give you that. From here, I'll let El-Man tell it: “I recently re-watched the Action Delivery Force parody and saw this long shot done of a left-to-right scroll of the entire crew. 'That would look so cool as a picture,' I thought, and through the magic of HD broadcasts and Photoshop, I made it a reality.”. And through the magic we have here at FM-TLZ here it is, or rather, here's a chunk of it - you'll have to go to El-Man's Fan Art page to see the whole thing.

Printed out, it's over a meter (3ft) long. El-man says that it was a little expensive to print and have framed, but it sure looks great hanging on his wall over his computer monitors. Here's the pic, which is in the Fan's Photos section. And if you'd like to comment on El-Man's creation you can do so on this thread on our Message Board.

In the beginning, it was easy - artists sent Fan Art and writers sent Fan Fiction. Life was good. Then, once in a while, someone would send in something else, but that was easily dealt with. Then, when this webmaster didn't run away screaming after a couple of months, they started getting creative - writers started drawing and artists started writing. Ok, we figured out how to deal with that - we called them promo pics and illustrated fics (hey, that sorta rhymes). Wellllll, we now take it to the next level. We have a Fan Fiction by Gulliver63, for which he also sent two pics. AND he sent an additional pic that kaspired did. The story is called The Morgan Proctor Interview and it's done in the style of those celebrity interviews that the publications that Scruffy likes to read are noted for. The three pics are embedded in the story and you can click on them to see then full size. And you can also read the interview and find out things about Morgan Proctor you never imagined.

Futurama fans do all kinds of great and wonderful (and sometimes crazy) things. Here's a different kind. Michael Vassernis is a self proclaimed huge fans of the show and also a developer for the android platform; and after about 4 long months of coding and watching the entire series all over again for the questions, he's just finished developing a Futurama trivia game for the Android platform. It has over 210 original knowledge and quote questions divided into 5 difficulty levels. And best of all, it's free! Here is a link to the Google play store where you can download it. (looks like Fry still had a 3G phone back when BWABB was made.)
