It's Official! Two more new seasons!
Posted on March 29, 2011 by Tim
Here it is! The official news from Commedy Central that Futurama is officially renewed for 26 new episodes to air, 13 each, in 2012 and 2013. A couple of Fox execs are quoted as saying “its fans are among the most loyal and passionate there are.” You know it baby!

The site also mentions that the episodes that are still “in the can” from last year, or “Season 6-B” as they call it (can the season numberings get any more confused and complicated? ), will premiere on Thursday, June 23 At 10 P.M. EDT.
What If Philip J. Fry were the last sane person on Earth?
Posted on March 27, 2011 by Tim
That would be really .... unusual, wouldn't it? But that's just the situation that MC is exploring in his latest Fan Fiction. The work is titled Stygia and we now have part 2 hot and ready to serve. As you may recall from the first part, the PE ship ran into a rouge wormhole, stranding Fry, Leela, Amy, and Bender on an Earth-like planet, but with no signs of inhabitants. And due to Fry's laziness, stupidity, or both, they are very low on fuel. If that isn't enough fun for everyone, all of a sudden Bender is helpful and a good cook, Amy is a competent Engineer, and Leela is coming on to Fry. So in this new installment, the crew splits up looking for answers and a way home: Fry and Leela go looking for help and some dark matter, while Amy and Bender are trying to determine if Fry is telling the truth or really out of his mind. But things turn quickly when Amy discovers a dangerous secret and Fry and Leela find out where they really are.

I also wanted to mention that in addition to that game mod by Futurama_Freak1 that I mentioned last time, we've also got five screen grabs of the five playable characters in his Fan Art pages in case you want to have a look without downloading the whole mod kit.
yo homies check this out yo we got fry leela benders all yo faves for the gtaz

Freako (aka Futurama_Freak1) told me I had to say that, and hey, you know, I'm lazy. I'll let someone else do the hard work for me whenever I can. So what's it all about? Well what Freako's got here are player mods for GTA Vice City, so you can play as Fry, Leela, Bender, Farnsworth, or Zoidberg. Freako says “I've been sitting on these for ages so I decided to release them into the wild and, unlike Pokemon, you can catch 'em all in the one go.”. Want to try before you download? Check out this demo video on YouTube. Warning: viewer discretion and lack of a gag reflex advised.

Did I mention that Futurama has been renewed? I think I might have mentioned it. Yeah, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that “Futurama has been renewed for two more years ... The network has picked up another two cycles of 13 episodes — and neither include the upcoming batch that launches this June. So that keeps Futurama on the air through 2013.“ and that ”... last season averaged 2.5 million viewers per week...”. Pardon me while I jump up and down and scream. Are we the luckiest batch of nerdlingers there ever was or what? Tell us what you think about it on our message board.
"there's gonna be a 7th season of Futurama!"
Posted on March 22, 2011 by Tim
Happy International Talk Like William Shatner Day, all! In other sy-fy news, there's gonna be a 7th season of Futurama! (Just closed my deal!)”. That, my friends, is straight from the lips of Maurice Lamarche, the voice of Kif, Calculon, Morbo and a whole host of others. So we've heard it from Billy West, Katey Sagal, and now Maurice, so it must be true. I think I echo the sentiments of many when I say I'm so happy I could squeal like a little girl. A big thanks to Rush for the tip. Click on the pic to see a YouTube video of the big man uttering the words himself.
Once upon a time ... in an evil reality far far away ...

... somebody decided digital video would be a good idea. Unfortunately, about a hundred thousand other somebodies all had their own ideas about standards and codecs and stuff like that. Ok, I'm done whining now. Video is hard Tim, deal with it. Here is it. A very patient Pablo sent this Fan Video in about three weeks ago and after I got done {a} doing the easy stuff first and {b} being out of town and {c} cussing at ffmpeg I finally got it beat into submission sort of. What he's nailed together here is a Futurama Halloween Special called Evil Past. It features clips from Futurama and The Simpsons, including some never before seen or heard scenes he manufactured. You can watch it here on YouTube, or download your own archival copy from our Video Clips section. In the comments on youtube Pablo talks about what he used to make the vid, and there's a making of video as well. Did I mention there were zombies?

Pieter Antonissen, famous for his many and varied depictions of Leela's behind in our Fan Comics section, recognized this scene of the west side pipeworks from The Mutants are Revolting as being a parody of the Molloch machine from the 1927 silent film Metropolis. Are those guys that write Futurama übernerds or what?
Back from the dead
Posted on March 18, 2011 by Tim
In the one thousand, six hundred and sixty four days I'd been doing this webmaster shtick I've heard lots of stories. I think this one takes the cake. Yesterday (at least where I am) was St. Patrick's Day, a day when everyone pretends to be Irish as an excuse to drink. And as it just so happens Rush is Irish. So when I replied to one of his e-mails a couple of days later than is my usual habit, he said “Alright then, you've came back from the dead I see. How'd you do it?“ So being as I can't pass up a perfectly good straight line and as I occasionally pretend to be a fiction writer on the Internet (which means I can tell tall tales (eg lie) with the best of them), I replied “Well, let's see, as best I can remember, it went like this: I woke up in the bar early this morning, and after a couple of hours of painful crawling around located my clothes behind the karaoke machine. The women's room had a machine that dispensed, among other things, Motrin and that plus a couple of glasses of water allowed me to find my way out side. After getting over the painful effects of bright sunlight and fresh air, which I did by rolling around on the ground clutching my eyes and moaning, I managed find my truck. A few hours of napping in the front seat and I was more or less good to go. Just got home an hour or so ago.”. To which Rush replied, in part, and this is the really unbelievable part: “Believe it or not I managed to be sober on ST Patrick's Day. A Irish Man sober on ST Patrick's Day it unbelievable. I only had seven pints.”. That speaks volumes. Call me a light weight but seven pints would embalm me. Anyway, this long diatribe of tall tales of manly St. Patty's day fun all started when Rush sent in his latest Fan Fiction called Rama Guy in which Bender asks the What If machine what if life were more like Family Guy.

This next thing doesn't really have anything to do with Futurama, other than one 'rama character does make a cameo in it and the creator is a FMMB member and as I'm starving for content right now (hence the rather slow pace of news lately) I said what the heck, 'rama fans will probably appreciate it. It's a cartoon called Sexton Lovecraft vs the Zargs. Kevin, it creator, describes it as kind of an Indiana Jones meets Dr. Who adventure, and the best part is, it's all freely available to watch on youtube.

The Silence of the Clamps is, we have good reason to believe, the next new episode of Futurama to air on, we have good reason to believe, June 23, 2011. That's a Thursday by the way (a night on which I am traditionally busy with other stuff ). And just to get you in the mood, Rush has located a preview of it on YouTube, which someone obviously made by holding a video camera up to their monitor, but hey, it works. Watch it quick before a certain media company finds out and flushes it into the sewers.

And for the latest in chic, high fashion Futurama head wear, Flounder spotted this knitted Bender hat on cheezburger. He says “If I had kids I would get them one of these.”. Uhhh, that might be kind of funny, seeing as how they don't appear to have working eye holes (the hat, not the kids).

Did you know that Professor Hubert Farnsworth was named after Philo T. Farnsworth, who is credited as the inventor of electronic television? This is pretty much common knowledge, and it also seems fitting. But what is less commonly known (meaning I didn't know it until Dingsda brought it to my attention) is that his first name Hubert allegedly comes from University of California Philosophy professor Hubert Dreyfus. Whether Dr. Dreyfus just supplied the name or had other characteristics in common with Farnsy is unknown.
Wakka Wakka What Is

Amazing isn't it? How a 1980's eight bit video game has such cultural impact. Also, how Zoidberg seems to fit right in. I know this means something? Anyway, this is one of two new Fan Arts from Pineapple Swordfish whom we haven't heard from in a very long time. He's also got another pic, a poster for Roswell That Ends Well.

The Prophet Kaleepa once told us, “If you’re afraid of the n’granek’s teeth, don’t wander out into the jumbak trees.”. And if that makes any sense to you, then you also know that being called a cheeg is a very bad thing indeed. And if you don't, then not to worry, 'cause it's all explained in Gulliver63's latest Fan Fiction Having Faith, the third and final installment in his Last Turanga series. But wait, there's more! Three pieces more to be exact; on Gulliver's Fan Art page are three new pics of characters from the story.
Dis Is Mah Style

So you'd think that someone with a name like Go-a-Green-a would us green ink. It just seems to make sense. But when does the world make sense? So here is her latest Fan Art in what she calls her "black ink style". The politicians around here could use some of that blank ink right about now - maybe they should hire Greena as a consultant.

Here's another Fan Art and this one has a story behind it. kaspired writes “There was a major snowstorm that rolled through the Sierra Nevada Mountains a couple of weeks ago. I happened to be in the town of Truckee, California and got stranded for an extra day. So I went to the only grocery store in town and bought some drawing stuff as well as a cheap disposable camera. Between bouts of shear boredom and sitting at the 'snack' bar I was able to get a couple of drawings done. This is the presentable one.“. There's only one thing wrong with it that I see -- Bender is doing work.
Beer and bad dreams
Posted on March 7, 2011 by Tim
Ok, as promised, here's three new Fan Fictions from Rush. The first is called I Like Beer. Farnsworth decides to watch the news and, as you might guess, Bender figures heavily in the plot. More than that I'll not say, 'cause the story isn't all that long and I don't want to give it away. Next is The Alphabet Futurama style; the title pretty much says it all. If you want to screw with a younger sibling's teachers, read them this. And lastly, there's Unforgotten. It's set a few weeks after the opera and Professor Farnsworth has invented a memory ray. And when he tests it on his employees they start to remember things they otherwise never would have.

And in the “In your face, Wernstrom!” department, many of you are no doubt aware that there are two URLs for this site - futurama-madhouse.com.ar and futurama-madhouse.net. Well, we are very pleased to announce that now there are three, as we have just acquired futurama-madhouse.com. This has lots of goodness to it, for one thing, it eliminates the possibility of someone using it for a porn, or worse, a Simpson's site. Plus it ought to make the site just a bit easier to find.
A whole week without an update? What's the world coming to?
Posted on March 6, 2011 by Tim
I'm beginning to wonder that myself. But the real reason is that things have been pretty sparse lately, and between nothing in the old in-box and a wee bout of a condition mentioned in 1ACV02 (hint: “Oh, you don't want that!” ) and some other Real Life junk, I just haven't had the time or the wherewithall. But things are looking up, I've now got a Video Clip to put up (as soon as I find where I left it - you'd think it would be hard to misplace a 60 meg file ) and some Fan Fictions from Rush which I'll get too in a day or two. So I just thought I ought to drop a note to show that I'm still on the job and that this site hasn't turned into a cobweb quite yet. All glory to the Hyponotoad (who commands you to send in stuff right away).
That's a lot of like
Posted on March 1, 2011 by Tim
So let's see if I can remember how this thing works .. oh, yeah. So Comedy Central Insider is reporting that Futurama just passed 10 million likes on Facebook (keep your eyes peeled for zombies ) and they show a couple of pictures of Fry and Zoidberg as females. Either they've been reading Graham Dawson's A Different View and some of it's derivative works, or else it's just too good of an idea to not occur spontaneously. These are from an episode entitled Neutopia! in which the crew crash land on a planet where the concept of Gender is unknown.

In an equally different reality is this new Fan Art from Jenny Ngo about which she says “Fry has to share his Slurm with his brother”. They say two heads are better than one, but not when you have to share you drink.
