Two Comic Reviews for the price of one!
Posted on March 30, 2006 by Kenneth
And that price is an update from me, which means you're getting a great deal, since you only have to put up with one of them instead of two. And, yes, as stated above (as well as in my previous update below), I have two brand new (they can be brand spanking new if you're into that sort of thing in fact) Futurama Comic Reviews.

This time around, I've reviewed both Futurama Comics #16, as well as Futurama Comics #17. The reason I've done them both together is, despite getting the former of the two several months ago, because it was connected to the next one, I couldn't decide what quite to make of it overall, so thought it best to read its follow-up issue as well before giving a proper run down of the whole thing. As many of you probably know, the latter of them is the first part of what's called "The Time Bender Trilogy" which means that at least the next two issues will be connected with it. And, yes, despite it supposedly being the first in the trilogy, the 16th issue also links together before it. Kind of strange, but the reasons and explanations behind that, for those who don't know, are in the reviews.

So, anyway, enough rambling... if you're interested in finding out whether these are worth getting, or (more likely) want to see what I thought of these issues which you already have read, then just click on the right name, or the cover image here, and you can read away.
LaMarche 48 in March

That's right, today, on the 30th of March, the voice of Kif, Lrrr, Morbo, and many, many others on Futurama turns 48. So, we of Futurama Madhouse all wish him a big Happy Birthday, so should you all

On top of that, I have a new piece of Fan Art for you, which is a personal Futurama characterisation of Fryluvr; the artist who drew the picture. She says she will send more art in the future too, so I'm sure there'll be pictures of the crew coming soon as well... mostly of Fry I'd somehow imagine.

'Til next time... when I might have some comic related reviews soon.
You raised my hopes and then dashed them quite expertly! Bravo sir!

Well, as Graham mentioned, our hopes for a resurection of our show was quickly laid to rest. Then again as Futurama fans we're quite accustomed to being disappointed.

Hmmm, since my career as a hot-shot reporter of shocking news seems to be in ruins, let me return to something I've been marginally succesfull at: bringing fanstuff. This time it's a brandnew Fan Comic. This one is a collaboration between Genocidal Smasher and Philibuster. The comic is called Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder and should make the shippers happy. Fry finally talks Leela into going on a real date with him. Meanwhile, Bender decides to start up his own catering service, which soon leads to other moneymaking opportunities. This update consist of the first 10 pages, I'll be back with the next 10 soon, until then happy reading.
Hermes has decreed that there needs to be cuts in the art department...

Ah well, it seems that that Billy West story that Teral was going on about below didn't happen as planned. Maybe Billy was having a vivid dream or nightmare, so maybe all can be forgiven. However, I suppose there have been many stories like this, and there will be many more stories, so maybe one of them will be true. Problem is that if you cry wolf too much, then people won't be around to actually watch it if it does turn up. Still, it makes life exciting... and frustrating. Damn you, Fox! Anyway, back to the update, I have another pile of crap that goes into the Crap Art section, and you can blame Mike Orr for the steaming pile of poo that you'll witness cover your monitor from its inside (be thankful it doesn't seep out ). The thumbnail you can see is of Hermes, who seems to be smoking a crap cigar, and there are other crap pictures of Farnsworth, Amy and a really crap one of Cubert. Why won't it ever end! Stop this rubbish and bring on new episodes of Futurama! I want my mummy! WAAAAHHHHHHH!
That lovable rascal Billy West is at it again...

And what exactly is it he's at? The movies? One of Beck's concerts? The bar? Spreading rumours? Yep, we have a winner. This little snippet appeared on his Billy West Forums:

I'm this close to selling my show-- Billy Bastard--Amateur Human Being. And the other good news is that they're doing 26 new episodes of Futurama for TV and we're hammering out the deal now.The original
plan was to have the DVD's first but that's no longer the case.I'm totaly jammed dude.

Direct link.

Now before you all go ballistic, start popping your 85 Dom Perignons and stage riots in front of your local FOX affiliate, allow me to play devils advocate (plus I really wouldn't live up to my image as a cynical and surly Futurama fan if I didn't ). This is neither confirmed by FOX nor Matt Groening at this point. Unless these two say in so many words the new 26 episodes is a done deal, it's still hearsay, albeit somewhat reliable. Plus we've heard all kinds of conflicting rumours lately: 1 movie, a new season, 3 movies, 4 movies, a new season. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Now you may run wild.
