What if I were 500 feet tall?
Posted on December 30, 2009 by Tim
If I were Bender, I'd probably cast a shadow like this one. I had a good laugh when I saw this - It's a photo taken by Chris Robinson from the top of the Empire State Building in Old New York. Chris says he took the pic ten years ago and only recently noticed that it's shadow looks like our favorite lovable Bending unit. Chris also says “love the site, can't wait for the new season”. I'll say thanks to the first part, and I think we all can agree with that second.
I said I had a bunch more Cubert's Rants, and here they are. But, instead of the usual pointing out the obvious to the little wart scraping, these are ALL NEW! Jodes fronts for the micro-twerp in 2ACV12, 2ACV13, 2ACV15, Bender's Big Score, and Into The Wild Green Yonder; and, as Ron Popeil's head in a jar would say, “But wait! There's more!“ - Cubert also conned James Prospect into delivering one too - also in Bender's Big Score.
And lastly, in the lost and found department, mostly lost in this case, did anyone happen to see where I left yesterday's headline? I'm sure it was right there, but now it's gone missing. Can't imagine what happened to it. Must be around here somewheres. Well, if you find it, drop it in the mail slot, ok? Thanks.

Only 165 more days (we think) until the new Futurama arrives. And, for lots of reasons, it can't come any too soon. My main reason for mentioning that today is that Jodes is really bored, so she's put on her Cubert hat and started ranting about the original episodes. And this time she's not answering them, she's finding new nits to pick. The list she sent me has had me intimidated for almost a week now; I finally figured I'd better get busy of I'd never get them done. So, here are some new Cubert's Rants in 1ACV01, 1ACV02, and 1ACV10.
There, that'll get us started. Like I said, Jodes list will keep us going for at least a couple more days, but right now that's all there is. The cupboard is bare, so if you've got some little creation you've been waiting to send in, now would be a great time. Or maybe you've never submitted before and aren't quite sure how to go about it maybe, why not? Then check out the How to submit stuff page. Then, when you're totally confused, just shoot me an e-mail and I'll do my best to confuse you more.
You will all be trapped in this dense, symbolist tome forever!
Posted on December 27, 2009 by Tim
Or maybe not. This e-mail showed up with the subject that talked about symbolism and it reminded me of that line from The Day The Earth Stood Stupid. Anyway, this Fan Art is from Leela+Fry and she says “I have a new project for you. Figure out what this means and why I drew it. Have fun!” Well, because I have so much fun doing this webmaster job, it just wouldn't be fair to all of you if I kept that to myself, so you get to figure out The Why Of Leela+Fry.
It's been a while since we've had the old classic one-two of fan art and Fan Fiction, but that's exactly what we've got here. This is part 5 of MCs fic Ten Years Gone, in which the Fry family's quest to save the Universe gets temporarily derailed as Fry and Leela begin their relationship and their daughter Kyrie finds love where she never expected it and where we find out (and this will be a surprise I'm sure) that the universe isn’t a fair place, but every once in a while, it screws up and gives you an opening.
Merry Xmas to All!
Posted on December 25, 2009 by Tim
Merry Xmas Everybody! And look at all of the presents!. Let's open them, shall we? First is this Fan Art from Futurama_Freak1 that challenges your primitive notions of modesty.
And here's a Xmas Fan Fiction from Rush. It's called A Red Xmas Tale. It looks like it's set on Xmas Eve 3006 and there's an impossible, stupid, and suicidally dangerous (in other words, normal) mission awaiting Fry, Leela, and Bender. And if Zapp Brannigan is involved, which he is, then you know it's really impossible, stupid, and suicidal.
Oh, look! Another Fan Art. This is from Shiny Metal Girl and look! It's Bender being a Xmas tree. Yeah, I know it's a little weird. What could explain such an unusual phenomena? The extinction of palm trees? A pure Christmas miracle? It's up to you! SMG writes in the attached Xmas card “I also would like to wish you and everyone at the Madhouse a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this new year brings us more of this fantastic show that is Futurama and surprises us in a good way.”.
Vytas_Wolf actually dropped off two things. I'll just show you this one - it's why Fry likes Xmas so much. Vytas wishes everyone “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
And lastly, in this nice box over here, DSS entertains and amuses us with some answers to Cuberts Rants in Xmas Story.
This marks the fourth (0100th) Xmas that it's been my privilege to play Santa here at the Madhouse and I'd like to once again thank Leandro and Graham for this wonderful, not so little corner of the web and for allowing me to be a part of it. And I'd especially like to thank all of the creative and talented people who support not only Futurama Madhouse, but the whole Futurama fandom. Looking back in our News Archive, I am reminded that last Xmas I said “Oh, and Santa, if you happen to be checking this site, all I want for Xmas is more Futurama episodes.”. Well, in what can only be described as an Xmas miracle, I'm getting my wish (a wish I'm sure that many of you share). So my last thank you goes out to everyone whose continued support made that miracle possible. Merry Xmas to all, and to all a good night.
All kinds of 'ramaness
Posted on December 23, 2009 by Tim
“Bridge Practice”. That's what this Fan Art is called. Futurama_Freak1 sent it to me the other day with kind of an “oh, by the way ....” and no further explanation. I assume he was practicing drawing bridge scenes for some future project that may or may not involve 25 hearty pages of story plus 12 pages of extra bonus content, ten and a half of which are completed.
Even more Fan Art! Here's two from D.Falcon - I guess we'll call it the Benderater. Could have sworn that there was fan fic or fan art by that name somewhere on this site, but I couldn't find it.
Now I'm the kind of entity that likes to stick meters on things and measure them. One of the things that I have failed to think to measure is the shortest Fan Fiction. I don't think I'm gonna start, but if I were, this one by Rush would be right up there ... er .. maybe I mean down there. Anyway, it's called Unforetold Story Of Thoughts and it's a quick look at the thoughts that were gong through the crew's heads in this scene from Bender's Big Score. Any you know what? I just bet that despite there being a room full of tiny ships flying around shooting at naked scammer aliens, it will somehow center on Fry's backside.
Calling all attention whores
Posted on December 22, 2009 by Tim
This is really different. In fact, it's so different, I had to do some head scratching to figure out where to put it. It just goes to show you that just when you think you've seen it all and nothing new could come along, Bam! There it is. So, OK, what is it already? It's a Power Point presentation! One with Futurama characters, naturally. Treven Bernhard did this for his Social Studies class. It's a slide show about the United States vs. Nixon court case that stemmed from the Watergate scandal. Trevin reports that his class seemed to like it. If you don't have MS Office, you can down load a PP viewer from Microsoft, or use OpenOffice.
Now here's the real attention whore. It Leela! Leela+Fry says “Leela's just being an attention whore because I picked up a copy of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut the other day. Please ignore the cruddy quality of this drawing. I just doodled it”. L+F als drew a little, teeny, tiny pic of Nny, which you can find here. Isn't he cute when he's scared?
Everyone say Hi to Leandro. Hi Leandro! Leandro has two weeks of vacation (or holiday as those of you in metric speaking countries call it) and besides catching up on his sleep he's also wandering in to check on things. As you can see we're still here. Just ignore the lumps in the rug and please don't check the executive liquor cabinet.
Drables and Rants
Posted on December 21, 2009 by Tim
I'm still here! Really! It's just that between two back-to-back holidays parties and a road trip I haven't had time to update in a few days. Well now I have, so with a hearty “I'm back, baby!”, let's get down to business. So Crystalmask, formerly known for acquainting us with Futurama felt hats had taken a left turn into writing Fan Fiction with four new very short fics. And since space, time, and sheer laziness prohibit me naming and describing them all here, you can get all of that on her fan fic page.
Fan art by Sonic Panther
After a bit of a lull in the action, we've got a couple of more answers to Cubert's Rants. Umbreon writes “I actually got these ideas back when everyone was doing them and I wanted to be popular, but I couldn't get to my e-mail account until now (don't ask). So maybe I'll start it up again and everyone will want to be like me, hurrah! Anyhoo, I came up with two answers, both from X-Mas Story”.
There's a first time for everything, and I don't think I've had to do an obituary yet. Hopefully I'll never have to do another. But, as you probably already don't know, Brittany Murphy, the actress who lent her voice to Colleen in The Beast With A Billion Backs has gone to be with Yivo. She has reportedly passed away due to cardiac arrest at age 32. Here's a link with the sad, sad, terrible, gruesome details. A mournful bow to Futurama_Freak1 for passing on the news.
The return of the webmaster from hell
Posted on December 16, 2009 by Tim
That would be me, and actually I've been here all along. The one who's really returning is Sick Pickles who bestowed that crown on me some time back (and I wear it proudly). I'll have to tell that story sometime, but until I can be sure that I'm safely on another continent, preferably one with lots of very deep water between us, I better stick to biz. Like this new Fan Art she just sent in. She says that the whole college experience * doesn't leave much time for drawing, but now that it's holiday she did this one.
* would that be as in "barf like a freshman"?
Ok, this one is a little unusual. This pic isn't Futurama related, and it isn't even an OC in a Fan Fiction. So why am I running it? Well, one, it's by Leela+Fry who desired to see her name in lights again. But the biggest reason is the disclaimer that came with it was just too darn funny. Here it is: “PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: THIS IS A GIRL WITH SHORT HAIR WHO JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE SMALL BOOBS. NOT A BOY.“ She also says that the only one who will understand it is Maddie.
After about four or five attempts, Rush gave up on trying to e-mail this to me and just sent links. It's a fan vid he made called Roberto's Song and you can watch it on youtube or photobucket. Don't be fooled by the title though, there's very little singing in it, so if you're from the galaxy that's big on musical theater, this probably isn't your cup of tea. The rest of you, check it out.
Goodnight Maddie, wherever you are.
Ride the Crab

“This pic is pretty self-explanatory.” That's what Imilianikus said about his latest Fan Art and I have to agree with that. Gotta give Bender credit on this one, although I suspect he already wore Fry out with a can of Slurm on a stick.
Vytas_Wolf also came though with a couple of Fan Arts. In this one, Leela is a pixie. Now that makes sense, 'cause in some literature, Pixies are said to be uncommonly beautiful and that's Leela. However, that's about where the comparison ends. Oww, this is making my brain hurt. Anyway, his other pic is Bender in a more believable role - as the grim reaper; and he's got his list.
Man, time flies when you're having fun, doesn't? Has anyone noticed that it's less than two weeks 'till Xmas? Makes me wonder if anyone is cooking up some Xmas Fan Art or Fan Fiction or some such. T'is the season, don't you know? If you have something, the express lane is open, there's no waiting, so send it on in.
Sweet Zombie Jesus, I really didn’t need that image in my brain.
Posted on December 13, 2009 by Tim
Well, this is either a new Planet Express promotional pic, or else Fry is day dreaming again. If it's the former, I really wonder how the convinced Leela and Bender to pose for that? I'd like to say that this was new Fan Art from Futurama_Freak1, except if I did I'd be only half right. See, the picture had been around for a few months and so if you've been to Mars U, public restrooms in Melbourne, or some of the other sites you'll probably have seen it before. And speaking of FF1, he, in what can only be described as a complete failure of sense, shared the first seven and one half completed pages of his new mondo comic with me a couple of days ago and I can tell you this thing is going to be great. It's as good as anything Bongo churns out, and better than some they've done.
Allrighty then, we've got us an actual, real live Fan Fiction! Haven't had one of those in a while. It's part IV of MC's Ten Years Gone. If you've been following this series, then you know that Fry and Leela are both dead and their daughter Kyrie is fighting to save the entire universe. Now, to escape Universal Armageddon, she travels to the past seeking the only people that can help her save everything: her parents. And let me tell you, this part is a real spell binding tale. It's Futurama fan fic at it's best.

Welcome and maybe not quite so welcome, depending on which end of the chimney you're on
Posted on December 12, 2009 by Tim
Hey, its the pervert again with pervert stuff! Yep, that perv amongst pervs, SLN'T is back with this little Fan Art number (literally from the looks of things) called "welcome home". I guess we know a little more about Fry's motivation now, don't we? Ok, a lot more. And just sos you know, I'm not makin' fun of SLN'T here - those are his own words.
Jodes, meanwhile, has been hard at work over in fangirl central putting the finishing touches on this pic. I think we know what she'd like for Xmas. I'm not sure quite how Fry feels about that.
Advanced technology to the rescue.
Posted on December 10, 2009 by Tim
So winter has reared it's ugly head hereabouts and it's all frosty and blowy outside. What a great time to stay inside and try to get some of this advanced technology to bend to our will. We all know how that usually goes, but apparently that's just what Frosty did with this Fan Art. She got a new program on her computer and made this collage of Fry.
So how's this for a caption of a Futurama episode: “The Episode they'll be thinking about by the water cooler, but not mentioning specifically”? Yep, it's real. Quolnok from The Infosphere writes “as another Australian fan I can confirm that Bender's Game is indeed airing here. More importantly, I recently gained advanced technology (in this case an addon for my PS3) and have been recording the episodes on that to do the comparisons and create screen shots of things that are different. Such as BGp2's caption.“ Schlee's also built a list of differences between the film and episode versions, again it's over at the 'sphere.
Silent nights and girl fights
Posted on December 8, 2009 by Tim
We're back baby! Someone come and dropped a couple'a packages through the slot last night, and this first one is from Marcus Abroad, who's last Fan Art was way back in 2003 (before I was born) (if you don't count that comic he sent in a year and a half ago or so ago). And what do we like more in Futurama than Leela and Amy wrestling in skimpy outfits? Nothing, that's what.
OK, this one is kind of a twofer. Not only is it Leela+Fry's first real color Fan Art, it's also our first Xmas art of the season and Fry would like your help decorating the tree. L+F also sent in one of teen age Leela, who apparently didn't have a well developed color sense then, and a larval stage Zoidberg that she drew for a friend who didn't actually specify an adult Zoidberg.
Futurama_Freak1 is reporting that Bender's Game is being broadcast on Network Ten in Australia and that they “cut the best part”. He says they didn't have the line where Leela insists that she “doesn't have any G*bleep* D*bleep* M*bleep* F*bleep*ing anger issues”. He's not hopeful for some other scenes later in the show either. And finally, he forgot that, unlike the DVD versions, unless I missed something, each segment has it own caption screen. So we need someone with advanced technology to capture those and send them in.
Posted on December 6, 2009 by Tim
What has 23 Frys, 22 Benders, 24 Leelas, 6 Zoidbergs, 10 Professors, and 80 speech bubbles? How about the first seven and one-half pages of the fan comic that Futurama_Freak1 is working on. And just to tantalize us, Freaky's sent in this sneak preview of page six, all drawn and colored, but without the dialog. It's lookin' good. He's guessing that it might be done in January (although he didn't say what year). Meanwhile, we're guessing what might be going on there. Anyone want to make a guess?
OK, bad news everyone - the dumpster is bare. There are no more packages to be delivered, so if you've got stuff you've been sitting on, which has got to be mighty uncomfortable, now'd be a great time to send it in. On the other hand, this is great for me, 'cause there's only about
ten sixteen days left in the writing competition over at TSFFC and I've got a Fan Fiction to work on, so if things are a little quiet here for the next few days, that's why. Also, fan fic writers take note, that means there's still plenty of time to crank out that magnum opus and enter the competition.
My leg feels funny!
Posted on December 5, 2009 by Tim
I can count on my nostrils the number of these we've had during my tenure here - it's two. So here's an Animated Gif that was submitted by scruffy, who says “Here's a gif I thought should be made, so I did”. If you click on the little one, it'll take you to a much bigger one, which is about 2 meg in size so if you have a slow connection you might want to grab a Slurm and a copy of War and Peace before starting the download.
Ok, are we ready for some more movie parody Fan Art? Are we? Well, we better be, 'cause here it comes. It's the other half of the pics that D.Falcon sent in. Can you figure out what all of the movies are? I had to call in two experts to get them all.
Beer and Loading in Mars Vegas
Posted on December 3, 2009 by Tim
Hey everyone, let's put the top down and hit the road for Mars Vegas where we'll say hello to D.Falcon, newish Fan Artist for these parts. He's made bunch of movie parody pictures featuring our favorite characters, and by bunch I mean that I've got the first half of them uploaded, so check 'em out.
So what would have happened in Leela's Homeworld if Fry hadn't arrived in time? Would Leela really have blasted the two hooded mutants into radioactive dust? Maybe, maybe not. That's the question that Trevin Bernhard explores in his first ever Fan Fiction called Leela's Homeworld Alternate Ending.
And now for the opposing viewpoint ...
Posted on December 2, 2009 by Tim
As the last news items dealt with fangirls, it's only fair that this one should spotlight a fanboy. In this case, three new bits of Fan Art from DSS. In this one, Leela is holding his head in a jar. What happened to the rest of him he doesn't say, but I'll just bet if involved getting a bit too obsessed with Leela. Although, one of his other pics features a (dead) Turangaraptor from his Jurassic Planet Fan Fiction - maybe that 'raptor died of acute inDSSgestion.
Like Professor Farnsworth Leela+Fry tends to doodle at the least likely of times so here's two more of her doodles.
And today's random quote, courtesy of Futurama_Freak1: “I knew I'd never know how much I'd miss him until he was gone. Not that much as it turns out.”
